Quinine IS the active ingredient of tonic water or "bitters". When the Wuhan Virus first hit, I went to the liquor store to get a couple of bottles (it's a lot weaker nowadays than it was during the days of the British Empire when it was issued as a malarial preventive to British soldiers), but apparently there is a guy around there who waits for the shipment to come in, and buys the entire thing, every time.
So I wound up with a couple of bottles of "diet" tonic water. Not recommended by meĀ for anything.
I haven't checked the liquor store at my new digs yet, however, so there IS hope! I just have to figure out how to distill out the water to concentrate the quinine without hurting the quinine.
.
I believe that is called cinchona bark.
