A Desert Arrival

Thanks Sky.  Coming from you that is a complement.  Interesting note, I still have a copy of the song which was taught to my daughter at school in Central Australia.  The song was given to her by an Aboriginal teacher and translated in to English.

It is a counting song for young children.  Commences with the words, "Down at Mission Creek where the Tjakergeries grow" (Bush Sultana/berry).

I know Mission Creek and have even swum there with my children.  Not marked on the map but I know where it is.  The song recounts the crashing of an object and subsequent rescue by the locals in the bush.

The song terminates after the being dies with the words, "Poor thing."

The story has been passed on for years and I enjoy recounting it.  I had to change names of people and places out of respect.

Kind regards as always,

Bally
