That's a little spooky. It makes me wonder if there is something approaching our planet that we don't know about?
Is this why 'they' built all those underground bunkers?

Nah, I don't think so. If whatever is producing those rays was in the sky, it would have been visible "rising" just a few minutes after the pictures were taken - just like the sun does when it throws rays up like that in the morning.

My working hypothesis for now is that it is something in or on the ground, What that could be, I don't know yet. There IS a small airport in that general direction, but I've never seen lights like that coming from it even in the night when they would be most visible. There is no airport in the other place I've seen it.

It's not a "doom" thing, but I think I've told you before there are strange "things" in these hyar hills, some of which I have experienced, but never managed to come up with an explanation of any kind for, neither normal nor paranormal. It WAS a mining area once upon a time, and this particular area was heavily mined. For example, the hills you see in the photos were once, a few years ago, 200 feet higher than they are now... until the top of the mountain was cut off to get at the coal beneath. All of the hills are honeycombed with worked out underground mines as well.

There is uranium in these hills, not just coal. About 240 years ago, a couple of "long-hunters" were on a hunt a few miles from here in the winter, and came upon a hill that had no snow on the top when everything else was covered up. They climbed the hill and brought samples of what they thought was silver back, but were never able to find the same hill again when they returned. My best guess is that it was an outcrop of uranium rather than silver. Silver doesn't melt snow in the winter, but uranium does. The background radiation in this entire area is about 11 times the national average.

Whatever it is, there seems to be certain combinations of atmospheric conditions that occasionally allow it to be seen. As I said, I've seen it twice and photographed it both times, both in different places. I've never seen the like anywhere else I've been on this planet besides right here, and it makes me curious.

One night, 30 years ago and about 30 miles from here, I was out thrashing around the mountains in the dark. I used to do that a lot, never carried a flashlight. The area I was in had no mines, as there was no coal there. It was mostly limestone karst from the Ordovician period, a couple hundred million years before coal was produced in the Carboniferous. Because of the limestone and millions of years of water action filtering through it, the area was shot full of caves and "sink holes" where cave roofs had collapsed over the millennia.

So I was walking along, minding my own business, and took a step whereupon I heard a "clanking" noise, as of machinery, clanking away under my feet. the sound was coming out of the ground. I took one more step, and the noise was gone. I got curious, and took one step backwards, and there it was again. One more step backwards, and it disappeared. one forwards again, clanking again. One more, no more clanking. It was just by standing in that one specific spot that I could hear it. I never figured out what that was, either. It wasn't mining noise, as there were no mines there. Not railroad noise, as the nearest railroad was about 10 miles away, across a river and several ridges. Either mine or railroad would not have likely produced noise in that one specific spot, no more than 3 feet in diameter, anyhow. Don't know what it was, and probably never will.

Just one of them there weird things in these hyar hills.

Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
