I am taking a back seat on this one.
I am not sitting it out, just back seating it.
We got a $.75 raise. All the nurses, including me, are pissed. However, I have been there long enough to know these young folk have worked a miracle. Us old folks have been trying for over eight years to get them to give us a raise.
Finally about nine months ago we got a raise. It was a nice one, but it still did not bring us up to the national average. With the increase in the cost of everything, the raise just does not provide us with much relief. So we went back to admin. They agreed to $.75 more.
So why is everyone pissed. It means that they know that our arguments are valid, however they are only willing to throw us crumbs to shut us the hell up.
I am an old fart. Us old farts have been carrying the baton long enough. The younger folks are finally stepping up to the plate, so I am more than happy to hand them the baton and let them run with it.
