Quote:Scottish Parliament votes to make Covid “emergency powers” permanent

Yesterday, [June 29] Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) voted to make some the emergency measures – initially instated to “combat the pandemic” – permanent features of Scottish law.

Originally passed in March 2020, the Coronavirus (Scotland) Act established all sorts of powers never before claimed by the devolved parliament.

Now it is rebranded as the “Coronavirus (Recovery and Reform) (Scotland) Bill”, (PDF) and codifies a number of those “emergency” powers into permanent law.
More info at article link above.

Sigh...like us in the USSA still under the 9/11 emergency powers along with all the other emergency acts that keep getting EXTENDED for no good reason.
They (Scottish Parliament) do this because they see a coming global war (or the second pandemic as Ridin with Biden prophesized) and will need draconian tools to help control the population.?
The SNP, looking after the interests and well being of the Scottish people. minusculeclap
