I think the insurance companies are taking a big hit because of the massive amounts of loss caused by an increase in natural disasters.
As long as they were collecting with limited numbers of payouts, it was gravy train time. Now they are having to make payouts in unexpected large numbers, they have to manufacturer excuses for why they are making insane increases in the costs.
They make it mandatory and all the risks falls on our backs.
