I had a dream about a friend who had terminal cancer
#3
I was wide awake when our daughter passed, and I heard her speak, heard it with my ears, not "in my head", just like she was in the room with us, but she was hundreds of miles away. It sounded real enough to make me jump. I clearly heard her say "Oh daddy! It's so beautiful here! I'm fine, much better now than I was, but take care of momma. Bye now." and it sounded like she was right next to me. We got the call two or two and a half minutes later that she was gone... but I question whether she was really "gone" or not to this day, due to that experience.

I didn't want to tell Grace what I'd heard, since she was in the same room with me and had heard nothing, but she finally dragged it out of me - you know how wimmen can get when they're digging for information. When I told her, her mouth dropped open. See, I had never, ever heard the girl call me "daddy" - all I ever heard her call me was by my name, and that's why I figured it had to be a hallucination of some sort. Grace had just returned from a month-long visit with the daughter in Texas, and when I told Grace, and told her why I figured I was imagining things -which is why I didn't want to tell her, I didn't want her to think I'd gone nuts - she informed me that over the last month she had spent with the daughter, she never heard her call me anything BUT "daddy". Hence the reason that her jaw dropped when I told her what I'd heard.

They said that right at the end, she was trying to get out of her hospital bed like she was trying to get away from something, but I prefer to think she was trying to go TOWARDS something, particularly in light of what I'd heard her say. The direction of travel is sometimes in the eye of the beholder - every path goes in two directions.

Weird. I reckon we'll never know for sure until our own time comes.

---------------------------

Dead folks often visit me in dreams while I'm asleep. It used to be folks who had a beef with me and weren't here any more to take it up in person, but over time as more friends and family have passed, the character of the visits has changed, and it's more often one of them than one of the Nightmare Bringers. Sometimes it's a pleasant visit, and sometimes they just have something to tell me that they ain't happy about, but at least it's not usually the folks that want to kill me as often any more.

I truly believe that many "dreams" are really just traveling to another dimension, or plane, or whatever you want to call it, one where you can see and do things that are not available to be seen or done in this dimension. Maybe your body can't go, but your spirit can go anywhere... it's not tied down to the same physical physics that it's bodily vehicle is.

Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
