I'm not a Dentist, Veterinarian or Western Medicine Doctor.
I actually think Dentist and Veterinarian's charge more than you average office visit to your Family Doctor.
But that's what makes you my kind of doctor!
I don't trust MD's much, and especially not hospitals. The last time I went to a hospital, about 3 or 4 years ago, they took about an hour and a half to look at me, tell me I was sick, and that I should go see a doctor - duh! That's why I was there! Then they charged me 5000 dollars for that bit of nothing. I went back home and treated the problem myself (t'was a blood clot) since they did nothing for it, and was better in about 3 days. I coulda saved myself 5 grand had I done that to begin with instead of listening to other folks who insisted I go to a hospital.
On the other hand, the last dog I had, a big old 90 pound hound, came dragging ass in after tangling with a bear, and the vet only charged 500 bucks to patch him up over about 3 visits, after a bear fight. So vets, at least around here, aren't that bad.
Dentists are ridiculous. My teeth are crumbling, They started that just a couple years ago, and I won't go see one. Way too expensive. The oldest son went to see one in Kentucky a year or two ago, and was charged 400 bucks to have ONE tooth pulled. I figure I can just let mine remove themselves over time instead of paying 400 x 32 teeth to get rid of them. from what I hear, they charge about 3000 per tooth for those fancy "dental implants" they have now. I can't even imagine paying 3 grand times 32 teeth to get a store bought set. If I had that kind of money, I'd buy my own carribean island nation!
I have government insurance now, and am scared to use it - they might not pay (it IS the gummint, you know!) and then I'd be left stuck with a ridiculous bill, so I'll just go on treating myself as best I can.

Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.
Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
