The Germans liked tunnels and underground facilities. There were still remnants of those in and around the U.S. bases in Germany that were taken over in 1945.

I do not think so as air pressure is not like water pressure. However 5280 X 2 =10,560 ft is way to heck down there and I would think heat would be a bigger problem not to mention air circulation. I guess if you can build DUMDs like the article says then many of the technicalities are small potatoes in the grand scheme of things ??
