While I personally may not subscribe to the notion that "we are the gods", at least it DOES have a smattering of Biblical support, which cannot be said for Trinitarianism.
Biblical support for the notion that "we are gods" may be found in Psalms 82:6 and John 10:34, for anyone interested in contesting it.
You are correct that destiny is and has always been in our hands, and comes to those willing to exercise the responsibility, initiative, and drive to reach it.
