It has lost much of its former luster. In 1948 it was awarded to...wait for it, wait, no one. Because there's a rule that states if no one is worthy, no one gets it.
Perhaps that rule should be reconsidered and adhered to more often? It would certainly lend new credibility to to the husk that remains today.
