Proud to be a Canadian !
Canada is a country of so many wonders. Canada is a country built on the warmth and friendliness of those who showed us the way.
Canada is a country of diversity. Canada is a country of innovators. Canada is a country of diplomacy.
From the Rockies to Newfoundland, from coast to coast, Canadians will raise their glasses today, to pay respect to our history, our culture, our roots.
You're a Canuck? Be Proud!
Today is Your day !!

I don't know why but every Canada Day morning, when I wake up, I still hear the song "Blame Canada"....
I guess South Park left an impression on my fragile little soul haha...

Merci Rod !
Believe or not, living in Quebec and telling people I am a Canadian is strange as I am always looked at as if I was an extraterrestrial.
My sister and I went in the Maritimes 15 or so years ago and after driving for 17 straight hours, we stopped at a little resto-pub for a bite and a good night's sleep.
We walked in the place and we noticed that some people were coming into the place at the same time as we did but we didn't make anything of it.
We sat down, the waitress came to us and asked us what we wanted.
I had looked at the menu on the wall and said I'd fancy fried chicken, my sister fried shrimps.
"Oh...she said...the kitchen is closed". OK. Beers then.
Then this wall of a man, (which I had noticed outside), like a bald Andre the Giant covered with tattoos and a look on his face like he'd want to split me in half with his bare hands walks right to our table, looks at me right in the eyes, leaning over to me...and says...
"So....errr....you're a maudit fuckin' quebecer yeah?..."
I could only guess that he saw my plate on the car...had to think fast on that one. This guy wasn't a bouncer...more of a killer looking for a fight lol
"Well...we live in Quebec, yeah, but we're Canadians and are on our way to visit family in Cape Breton..."
His face just lit up. He threw a bunch of quarters on the table and yelled at whoever was in the kitchen:
"Hey...whoever (I just don't remember her name)...open the damn kitchen, we have guests." Then he looked at us again and said "those quarters are yours for the taking, there's a fine juke box there in the corner, music's on my tab tonight..."
I thanked him, we had fried chicken and fried shrimps, Andre the Giant paid for our first round of beers and they called a nearby bed and breakfast to prepare for our arrival and a have a room ready.
That's Canada.
Although, I'm just glad I didn't answer "Yeah...we're quebecers, what's your problem?" haha
Gotta love Canada...
Cheers

Been all over the world. Within a mile of the Canadian border ... never stepped a foot on her soil.
So, Happy Canada Day to you, Brother (and all of your fellow citizens). Thanks for being good neighbors!!
'Cause if they catch you in the back seat trying to pick her locks
They're gonna send you back to Mother in a cardboard box
You better run!

My one Canadian story is about a seminar I attended a few years ago in Ohio.
Part of our small group was a trio of Canadians from Quebec.
Immediately they started speaking french in front of the rest of the group.
I immediately smiled, offered my hand and in passible french said, "Je m'appelle Mike!"
Eye brows raised, one asked, "Est ce que tu parles francais?"
I humbly replied, "Comme ci, comme ca."
(Which depleted about all the french I remembered.)
They were kind enough to speak english for the remainder of the week.

Pretty good !!!!
Funny thing, American women love my french accent, and really, really love when I speak french.
Mais oui, mais oui!!
My family on my father's side originate from Nova Scotia, the french side is from my mother who was raised in the Eastern townships, in Quebec, like I was. When she passed away, my Dad made sure I spoke both languages fluently.
Luck of the draw.. :)

I hope I don't spoil the mood when I tell you Adam Schiff is considering moving up there.
Try to have a great day, regardless.
