Dougie's Rugby Team - gordi - 05-22-2019 Fellow Rogues. My youngest offspring is a "rough & tumble" 9 year old lad called Dougie. His favourite sport is Rugby Union. (A little bit like American "football" but without all the namby-pamby protective gear, pads and helmets!) He started playing around a year ago I think... following in the footsteps of big brother Callum who took the sport up a year earlier. I'd like to share what Dougie's team have achieved recently if that's OK? *N.B. - The Very Best Rugby Union side in the world is the NZ All Blacks. They have consistently topped the world rankings for many decades. Their record run of victories is 18 straight wins (in 2015/16). Incredible. Wee Dougie's team have recently been playing in invitational tournaments against (from 3 to 7) other teams at the same level. This spring, they have played in 5 tournaments and have won all five! They have played 23 matches in total at these tournaments and have won every match!! Now, they actually won quite a few matches BEFORE the tournaments started, but I wasn't keeping an accurate record of how many, because I wasn't expecting their run to last this long. But, I do know that their current tournament record is played 23 won 23 - Better than the All Blacks!! LOL I just wanted to say WELL DONE Dougie and his wee team of boys (and girl). The level of skill, fitness, camaraderie, team spirit and technical ability is just amazing for players so young. I'm very proud of them all. Go Team Dougie! ![]() G RE: Dougie's Rugby Team - BIAD - 05-22-2019 I too, would like to congratulate Dougie and his team. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I used to play the game myself and I believe it's a great way to acquire social skills and character. Mind you, Smelling of winter-green in December could be seen as a drawback, but that content feeling of being with your teammates and softly praying that you don't get cauliflower-ears*, made it all worth while! *Being part of the scrum can cause this. ![]() Once again, well done.
