Huddersfield and Sheffield terror arrests after armed raids.
'Residents heard "loud bangs" when armed officers swooped on two addresses
in terror raids.
The properties, in Huddersfield and Sheffield, were searched by counter-terror officers
after police received a tip-off.
Explosions heard by eye-witnesses in both locations were caused by police accessing
properties, officers said. The men, aged 24 and 29, were held in Huddersfield and Sheffield
on suspicion of terror offences.
Police said the raids were not linked to the recent Manchester Arena attack.
A resident on Rudding Street in Crosland Moor, Huddersfield, who did not wish to be named,
said at one point his "house shook".
He said: "I heard a loud bang that sounded like a really big explosion, I thought it was a bomb.
"I ran outside and saw about 30 police and armed officers. People on the street have been kept
inside their houses."
In Sheffield, residents at the Daisy Spring Works apartment block in Kelham Island told the
BBC a door was blown off at a second floor property. The North East Counter Terrorism Unit said
the two arrested men, both from Huddersfield, were being held on suspicion of offences under
Section 5 of the Terrorism Act...'

Metropolitan Police also reported that they responded to an incident in Borough Market, and "have armed police at the scenes."
Downing Street has said that Prime Ministerr Theresa May is in contact with officials and is being updated on London Bridge incident.
BBC reporter Holly Jones, who was on the bridge at the time, told the network several people were hurt after a white van swerved and hit a crowd of people while it was crossing London Bridge.

JUST IN: Eyewitness tells CNN that two men entered a restaurant near London Bridge and stabbed two people inside
LONDON Bridge has been evacuated amid reports of a van mowing down pedestrians, victims being stabbed and shots being fired.
Armed police are at the scene while people have been seen fleeing the central London landmark near Borough Market.
Eye witnesses confirm that several bodies are “strewn on the ground” and people are receiving CPR after being stabbed while a bomb squad has arrived on the scene.
Several gun shots have been fired amid the ensuing chaos.
A journalist at the scene tweeted that he saw one man being led away by police in cuffs.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan called it a “horrific terrorist attack.”
“We don’t yet know the full details, but this was a deliberate and cowardly attack on innocent Londoners and visitors to our city enjoying their Saturday night. I condemn it in the strongest possible terms. There is no justification whatsoever for such barbaric acts,” Khan said.
