Earth Has A New Moon, Confirmed by NASA - Mystic Wanderer - 12-09-2016 Great! Wonder what else they will discover? Quote:It turns out that our moon isn’t alone out there, orbiting our planet on its own. Earth has a companion in space which has been orbiting our world for over a century, and NASA has only recently spotted it. Quote:According to new reports from NASA, there is a quasi-moon orbiting around Earth for almost a century, and we have missed it all along. Daitengu, I couldn't agree with you more. There's no way that this Moon, even being smaller could have been around and us not see the sun shining on it or watch it pass in front of our moon. Not only that, but if they sent all those exploratory missions to our moon as the other threads video says they did before us landing on the moon, they couldn't have not know it was there. RE: Earth Has A New Moon, Confirmed by NASA - BIAD - 12-10-2016 It's an asteroid, they just call it a moon for click-baiting purposes. '...That’s right — we have TWO moons now. Earth’s been hiding a little secret from its partner, the moon. Turns out the Earth has had a “mini-moon” on the side for over a century, and even though the relationship has been exposed, the partnership is likely to continue for centuries to come...' The small asteroid, named 2016 HO3, was discovered on April 27 using the Pan-STARRS 1 asteroid survey telescope on Haleakala, Hawaii. What’s interesting about the asteroid is that because of its particular orbit around the sun, it’s a continuous companion to Earth. Although it is too far from us to be considered a true satellite, it is currently our best example of a near-Earth companion, or “quasi-satellite.”...' Words are great! SOURCE: |
