Would you stay and fight for America ?
#41
From what I see around here, it is the Liberals that would take off, especially the ones who have money or high limit credit cards.  The poor liberals would probably be stuck here but would not be apt to take up arms and fight.

The conservatives would mostly stay and fight, but the richest of the conservatives would go sit on an island somewhere and watch to see what happens.  All of the elite would relocate somewhere.

I would stay and be more neutral after all, post war things will not be that much different for those of us who worked hard at labor intensive jobs.  No matter who is running the new country, we will still be pawns to the ones controlling things....that is the way it is and always has been.  You see, liberals want power and if things go bad, they will lose their power either way because nobody will listen to them anymore if they pack up and leave, just like the conscientious objectors of wars in the past that ran to Canada.  If masses of Liberals moved to Canada and started trying to change everything, that country would fall apart because most liberals are also at odds with other Liberals on various subjects.  They will not accept changes others make that do not benefit them or the people they associate with.

I used to be pretty much of a Liberal but since I have seen so much messed up thinking in the Liberals who want to change things without rationalizing what the changes will lead to in society, I abandoned the Liberal backing totally.  Changes need to be evaluated before tossing them into the mix, using historical data of how past changes resulted in problems.  We are not smarter than our ancestors, there was way more common sense back in the sixties and seventies when very few people actually trusted the government.  Big government is not a good thing...saying that makes me a target of certain parts of the government now, but I cannot lie...they make things expensive and will screw up a good idea and make it bad.  At this point in history, the Democrats are way worse at screwing things up than the Republicans are.  We are supposed to all be equal one on one in this country, no person should have more rights than another person.  Giving little groups of people more rights per individual is not fair, but also giving minority group members less rights is also not fair.  Giving a woman more rights than a man is not fair either, equality between all people is essential.

I am a guy.....and from living many years on this earth I am totally aware that women start just as much chaos as guys do....women get awful nasty towards other people, in fact I see more women start conflicts with others around here than guys do in our society.  I see women slamming anyone who does not agree with them and getting obnoxious more than I see guys in regular people, they are more protective of their families and relationships than guys are.  That is normal, the old saying from the bible about there is nothing worse than the scorn of a woman has not changed.  I see a lot of women firing up other women to join their cause or beliefs...probably more than us guys do...most of us guys learn to not get women fired up and stay out of their arguments because we cannot win....been married a long time and have learned what not to say.  I have two daughters, a wife, and an ex-wife....I have experience.  I also have been friends with lots of women throughout my life and observed...I am no fool, I know that women are opinionated and are like cats and that we have to live with them but they are the ones that actually control us guys...don't fight a war that you cannot win applies. minusculebonker

Hahaha nope... Not that. From Merriam Webster:

"In social media, never mind is abbreviated NVM (also NM) or lowercase nvm (nm) and is usually used to tersely say "Disregard my last comment".

I use it when I make a post then decide it doesn't fit or otherwise is ill advised to say, in place of the, now deleted, post.

An orthodox military strategy is rarely going to succeed against a long term insurgency using asymmetric tactics. It does not matter how technologically advanced that military might be; it does not matter how many planes, tanks, and drones they might have. Eventually over time they WILL lose by pure attrition in the face of a "WELL SUPPLIED" guerrilla resistance. The secret is to stay hidden and away from a frontal attack and when they turn their backs cut their hamstrings or their heads off. Key being well supplied IMO.

What the hell is happening to you people?

When I first started talking and debating things with Americans online it was sort of a given that you'd fight to you last breath to save your country  -as well you should.
Almost to a person it was explained to me that should anyone be stupid enough to invade the USA - regardless of other obvious problems like logistics, strength of military etc - they would be met with an armed American hiding behind every single blade of grass.

Now I'm told - and from what I've read etc I sort of believe is possible - the majority of you would run like fuck, turn tail and scarper.

Bollocks to that.
I know we have lots of problems here in the UK but I know that if we were ever invaded that our fighting spirit would never allow us to meekly roll over....we'd fight to the last man - We'll fight them on the beaches and all that.

I've never served in the armed forces - I have a huge amount of respect for anyone who has - and I've never fired a gun in anger.
There's very few wars through history that I think have been just and I have seen far too many British soldiers come home in body bags from pointless wars in foreign lands, I have no desire to see any more.
But if these islands were ever invaded by anyone I would fight to my last breath to resist that invasion.

I can't understand why anyone from any other country wouldn't feel the same.

But another thing I have seen during the Ukraine crisis that has rather caught me off guard is the number of so-called Libertarians, Defenders of Freedom and opponents of tyranny and all forms of authoritarianism who have suddenly become supporters of an authoritarian de facto dictator who is holding the threat of nuclear war over the world in order to pursue his own dreams of personal glory and a Greater Russian Empire.
These people are advocating Ukrainians lay down their arms and meekly submit to the will of a tyrant who has invaded their country.

I could go on but I don't want to bore the tits off everyone.

More likely, they'll hunker down and let the experienced handle the real stuff ... so they can live ... and go back to pushing papers around a desktop.

It's always the blue collars who get the job done.  I have served in uniform (a full career even).  I have been shot at (a lot too).  I have shot back (and I am a competent marksman). When you get past the adrenaline ... you see what most people do at the outset.  When reality is at the doorstep, most will fight, rather than watch the house burn down around them.

Hopefully, you'd see an invasion coming and act preemptively.  Cause I'll tell you what, if an invasion force from Russia comes a'knocking, it's likely already too late.

Careful applying that label to people who are simply questioning The Narrative.  I, for one, am no Putin supporter.  I see him as another Oligarch with way too much money and far higher reaching aspirations than any of us commoners.  But ... I ain't blind either.  Something's afoot.  Americans are pushing his buttons.  And I understand why he's in Ukraine right now.

Just like Fauci had a hand in creating whatever COVID-19 was ... the true finger of blame has failed to come to rest on the actual perpetrators.
'Cause if they catch you in the back seat trying to pick her locks
They're gonna send you back to Mother in a cardboard box
You better run!

Short answer?
It depends and is unique to the individual.
Long answer?
I can only answer for myself and my friends and loved ones... You see, I was in 11th grade when I watched the towers fall. I grew up in a fiercely patriotic family and as such, I had enlisted before I had even graduated high school. I signed on via the Army's delayed entry program which allowed me to graduate before Basic. I graduated June 6th 2003 and was on a plane to Ft. "Lost-in-the-woods, Misery" June 10th. The reason those details are important, is that I didn't realize the political murkiness and, if we're being honest, extremely shady bullshit about the whole reason we were in Iraq and A-Stan until after my enlistment ended at the end of my second tour.
Very soon after I came home, I became extremely disillusioned with the whole thing. We all had blood on our hands because our leaders sent us to kill peoples of another nationality for their own gain. Hell, it can be argued, quite convincingly, that our own leaders were behind the inciting incident and caused the whole thing from the word "Go"...
There was a time that, while we Americans had always been ready for the good fight, we didn't seek it out and start shit. That time is no longer. And it created a sort of cognitive dissonance. Had it always been this way? Were we always actually the bad guys? What the fuck are we doing? This isn't what we were brought up to believe.
So in the void left behind by those questions, what the hell is wrong with our leadership? Wait, our leadership was "voted" for. Well then, what the hell is wrong with us? When did we get this way?

Would I stay and fight for my country and its leaders given the choice? I can't answer that anymore.
Would I stay and fight for my loved ones, my friends, my constitution? You better fucking believe it.
