Kevin slowed his breathing down, willed his pulse rate to slow as he looked through the gun site at his target 950 meters away. The rally was taking place in a park that was filled with people from all over the country. The candidate was due to speak for a few minutes, shake some hands, then go off to the next rally, three states away.
Kevin calmly waited.
When the target arrived on stage, Kevin slowly pulled the trigger and executed a perfect shot. While people were still screaming and security running all over, Kevin smoothly dismantled the rifle and put on his robe, put on the slippers that looked like fluffy bunnies and walked back downstairs from the attic.
He quietly reentered the ward and shuffled to the window, looking at the parade of police and emergency vehicles as they raced to the park that was over a half mile away.
Two nurses, looking over charts glanced at Kevin. One said, "What's his story?"
The other replied, "Oh, that's Kevin. He came in here a week ago catatonic, doesn't speak, just looks out the window every day. He's kind of sweet, just quiet."
