A woman has been rushed to hospital with "multiple stab wounds" following a savage attack in the capital.
'Officers raced to Burns Road, in Wandsworth, following reports of a stabbing at 8.11pm on Sunday.
When they arrived police found a woman, believed to be in her 20s, who was understood to have been
attacked by a man who fled.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “The victim was taken to a south London hospital.
“We await an update as to her condition.” A man later presented himself to police in Notting Hill and was
arrested in connection with the attack.
He is being held on suspicion of GBH and remains in custody.
At about 6.30pm another woman was stabbed in Acadia Grove, Dulwich.
Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
No arrests have been made. The capital has been reeling from numerous stabbings since January this year.
Figures have now soared to a seven-year high and officials confirmed there had been 1,299 stabbings by April.
The Met Police said it had confiscated 250 knives and swords on just one week alone in February.
It is believed the majority of the violence has been due to cocaine and other drugs flooding into the country. ..'

*The men, both in their 50s were attacked with knives in unrelated assaults
*No arrests have been made in either case as officers continue to investigate
'Two men were stabbed just miles apart in London in another afternoon of bloodshed in the capital.
Police were called to knife attacks in both Barking and Dagenham on Sunday.
Both victims were men aged in their fifties although officers are not treating the incidents as linked.
First, at 12.40pm, a man in his fifties was found stabbed in Station Parade, Barking.
He had been stabbed multiple times in the back.
The man was taken to an east London hospital by air ambulance, according to witnesses.
Later, officers were called shortly after 3pm to reports of a stabbing near the Roundhouse pub near
Porters Avenue and Lodge Avenue in Dagenham. A 50-year-old man was found with a stab wound.
Detectives from East Area CID are investigating both incidents and no arrests have been made.
Knife crime has become a huge problem for the Met Police as the number of people caught carrying
knives rises.

Armed police have stormed a London Underground station and placed it on lockdown.
'Machine gun police raced to Bond Street station this evening and quickly ushered passengers out.
Hundreds of rushhour commuters watched in shock as the shutters were drawn by cops at 6pm.
Reports emerged a person with a gun was being ordered to lie on the ground by officers.
The Metropolitan Police then confirmed shortly after that a man had been arrested on suspicion of
possession of a firearm. The force said in a short statement: “One male arrested on suspicion of
possession of a firearm at Bond Street station just before 6pm.
“No reports of any injuries and incident is not being treated as terrorism.
“Suspected firearm found and will be sent for analysis. No crime scene in place.”
The station was still closed at 8pm – two hours after police first arrived on scene.
Cops were later seen taking two people away with an eyewitness reporting another person was carried
on a stretcher. At the height of the evacuation commuters took to social media in a scramble to find out
what was happening.
One passenger wrote: "Just got evacuated out from Bond Street

Quote:Eight ‘slaves’ rescued and three people arrested in huge raid in Buckinghamshire. The Sun:
More than than 100 officers were involved in the pre-planned raid on a home in Iver this morning after
receiving reports about forced labour being used on building sites.
'Three people have been arrested and eight others rescued after cops smashed a modern slavery ring
in Buckinghamshire today. More than 100 officers carried out the huge raid on the home in Iver after
receiving reports about forced labour being used on building sites.
They rescued eight people in the pre-planned operation led by Thames Valley Police and supported by
the National Crime Agency, and the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority.
A further three people were arrested as part of the force's Hidden Harm campaign.
Dramatic pictures show dozens of police cars and officers carrying out the raid this morning.
A minibus can also be seen carrying alleged slavery victims away from the residential home.
Detective Inspector James Mather, leading the operation, said: “This operation has safeguarded vulnerable
people in society and a number of arrests have been made. "Modern slavery is the exploitation of people for
personal or commercial gain.
Officers continue to work closely with our partner agencies to ensure those who carry out this activity are
disrupted and any victims are supported.
“We are in the early stages of the investigation and considerable work to identify any further victims will follow.
It has been a really positive example of partnership working, and I’d like to thank all the officers and agencies
involved."
Cops are now asking people to be vigilant of slavery and report anything suspicious to police.
They have released signs of slavery for locals to watch out for -including victims being "withdrawn, unable to
make eye contact, or being reluctant to talk to strangers".
Aerial images show a property that was raided by cops.
DI Mather added: "Their appearance may be unkempt, they may be malnourished, or showing signs of physical
or psychological injury. “They may also have inappropriate clothing or equipment for their job, be working long
hours for little or no pay. Their accommodation may be overcrowded and poorly maintained.
They may lack some basic freedoms, such as not having access to their identity or travel documents, and have
their movements restricted. “Keeping people safe from harm is all of our responsibility. To make a report please

How aggressive 'Fagin' gangs are using children as young as three to target wealthy victims in the heart of London
*Footage shows shameless begging gangs targeting wealthy shoppers in Oxford Street
*Women use their children -some as young as three -to hug victims until they agree to part
with money
*Modern day Fagin gangs operate between Marble Arch and Bond Street tubes, focusing
on Selfridges department store
*The gangs, who arrive into central London early in the morning apparently from Ilford in Essex,
can make as much as £100k-a-year begging, police say
*A Selfridges doorman said shoppers often hand over £20 and £50 notes out of pity and just to
get rid of them
*Traders told MailOnline that some shoppers have complained of losing a purse after being
'hugged' by one of the children
'Shameless begging gangs are making children as young as three hug strangers in the street until they
hand over cash, MailOnline can reveal.Shocking footage, obtained by MailOnline, shows the youngsters
targeting wealthy shoppers along London's Oxford Street.
They hone in on well-dressed members of the public and fling their arms around the waists of their startled
victim in the hope they will be given money to go away. Any cash given to them is immediately handed over
to an adult guardian.
These modern day Fagin-style gangs operate a half a mile stretch of Oxford Street between Marble Arch
and Bond Street tube station entrances, focusing on the world-famous Selfridges department store.
Each child is accompanied by two or three adult women who walk slowly behind, watching for police,
ecurity guards and other potential targets.
Often they approach the person who is being cuddled and gesture for them to be given money to feed the
child. Some victims are so desperate to be let free they give the children £50 notes just to get rid of them.
The gangs, who arrive into central London early in the morning apparently from Ilford in Essex, can make
as much as £100,000 a year begging, police say. The MailOnline filmed one group target two smartly
dressed tourists walking between Marks and Spencer and Selfridges.
In the footage a boy of school age, around seven-years-old, clamps himself around stunned tourist Shanice
Braithwaite for nearly 20 seconds as she waits to cross the road.
A woman with a pushchair hovers beside him and holds out an open palm for money.
Afterwards, Shanice, 28, who is visiting London with her friend from Barbados, said: 'This little boy came
up to me and put his arms around my waist and asked if I had any spare change.
'I told him that I don't normally have cash and pay for most things by card.
'He kept his arms around me for a while and I wondered what was going on. Nothing was stolen because
I checked straight away. 'His mother, or a woman looking after him, asked for money too but I had nothing
on me to give.'
About an hour earlier a little girl, aged no more than three-years-old, had been made to try the same trick.
She had been ordered to approach shoppers sitting on a small ledge outside the Primark clothing store
on Oxford Street. The girl then reaches out and tries to hug one woman, but is shooed away.
She tries again and hugs another woman sitting nearby, who is chatting on the phone, but again ends up
empty-handed.
Like with the young boy, a woman flanks her throughout with a pushchair holding her hands out pleading for
money. Further down Oxford Street towards Debenhams, they order an angelic blonde-haired girl of about
five or six-years-old to approach Middle-Eastern customers.
She tries to stop two men in their stride by pleading for spare change, tugs at a woman's mobile phone and
accosts a wheelchair-bound woman wearing a full veil who warns her off. Watching the begging gang as they
approach Selfridges, one of the department store's doormen, who asked not to be named, said: 'They are
around here every day and they are now so brazen.
'We've nicknamed them 'hugger muggers' because they come out of nowhere, start hugging someone and
won't let go until they hand over some cash. 'I've seen people give these kids £20 and £50 notes, either out
of pity or to make them leave them alone.
'So for the gangs manipulating these youngsters, it can be a real money-spinner.
'They usually target Muslim or Arab shoppers, particularly those who look like they have a lot of money.
'They'll speak a little Arabic to them to try and charm their victims into parting with their money.
'But it's very unsavoury seeing little children put in that position by adults who are looking after them.'
Speaking on the guarantee of anonymity, an Oxford Street stall holder told how the youngsters were part of
a professional criminal begging network, which also includes men pretending to be disabled.
The businessman said: 'I spoke to one of the beggars once and asked why they did it.
'She said that they come to London for a few months and are then sent somewhere else.
'But it's not right because some of the children they use should probably be in school but are instead dragged
up and down Oxford Street all day long to beg in all weathers.
'And sometimes they're not just hugging people to beg for money, we've had people approach the stall asking
us if we've seen their purse or phone and its usually after they've given money to one of these youngsters.
'Yet if you challenge them, the adults in the gangs can turn really nasty.
'We've tried to move them away from begging around the stall and it's resulted in us being spat at, sworn at
and pelted with bits of food and other missiles. 'They must feel invincible though because little is ever done
about the problem and they get away with it time and again.'
The stall holder added: 'They are part of a big group of beggars, who include two men who hobble around
on crutches pretending to have uncontrollable shakes.
'Yet as soon as they've got enough money, they'll turn a corner and walk off normally. It's all a big scam.'
The Metropolitan Police say they are aware of reports of anti-social behaviour and begging on Oxford Street.
A spokesman said: 'In order to deter criminality, officers in Westminster deploy a number of tactics including
high-visibility patrols as well as plain-clothes operations, whilst offering crime prevention advice to residents,
visitors and local businesses.
'We would always encourage anyone who believes that they are a victim of crime to report it to police.'...'

Blood was splattered across a London Underground train after a man was brutally stabbed in front of passengers.
'Horrified passengers were stunned after the knifeman pulled out his blade and stabbed a fellow passenger as the
train was travelling along the Central Line somewhere between Stratford and Bethnal Green at about 12.30am on

According to wittnesses, an argument broke out on the carriage before the knifeman stabbed his fellow passenger
before running off the train. Paramedics raced to the train when it next pulled in and treated the victim at the scene.
Officers then carried out searches in the area in a bid to find the thug.
Witness Rukshana shared photos of the scene, where the vitcim and a newspaper could be seen covered in blood.
She later told Daily Star Online: “Before the train got to Mile End people were screaming and jumping up from their
seats and then a man ran off the train.
“That’s when I saw this man stumbling and people told him he should get off the train but the doors closed on him
before he could and he stumbled on the floor onto the seat. “A woman told me he’d been stabbed in the face by
someone sitting next to him. I was shocked as it happened so fast, that’s when I saw his jumper was bloodied and
pouring from his cheek.
She added: “Everyone rushed to help him and a woman held his face with tissue to stop the blood and when the train
stopped at Bethnal he was carefully taken out.”
The British Transport Police released an image of a man it wishes to speak to in connection with the attack.
A spokesman said: "Detectives have released a CCTV image of a man they believe has information that could

A teenage London gang has been jailed for a total of 83 years after mowing down and stabbing
to death another youngster.
'All of the youths were handed life sentences for the brutal attack which left Lord Promise Nkenda,
17, dying alone in the street.
The gang drove a stolen BMW towards the victim -sing it as a “battering ram” according to police
-before stabbing him 15 times on Valentine's Day on 2018. Those involved in the assault, in Newham,
east London, included 18-year-olds Shemar Dawes, Ephraim Idris, Anton Muir, Ishaq Abdille and a
15-year-old who cannot be named.
The defendants, all from the east London area, were aged 14 and 17 at the time of the attack and
had denied murder before being found guilty at the Old Bailey. On the night Nkenda had been walking
along the pavement when the car containing five youths accelerated into him, before four got out to
chase him down on foot.

The aspiring music producer was caught in a nearby alleyway where he was stabbed in the head,
back and chest, concluding the grim 30-second attack. Paramedics battled to save his life but he
was sadly pronounced dead at the scene at 8.40 pm. (took out date)
Cops revealed today how they used both CCTV and DNA evidence to catch and convict the "ruthless"
killers. The stolen BMW was later be found crashed in Victoria Dock Road, with incriminating evidence
in the boot of the car, they said.
A knife and pair of latex gloves were also discovered behind a telephone junction box near the crime
scene and forensically linked to the attack. Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, who led the
investigation, blasted: "This group acted together from start to finish to execute this murder.
“They were ruthless in their determination to kill Promise and have refused to cooperate with police from
the outset. "We have a team of experienced and skilled detectives who worked tirelessly to build a clear
picture of what took place through CCTV and forensic analysis and help secure some justice for Promise
and his family.
"Promise had his whole life ahead of him and wanted to pursue a career in the music industry. He stood no
chance against the onslaught this group inflicted on him.
“The ages and determination of those involved -a boy who was 14 at the time of the attack and a group
of other teenagers -is chilling.” Promise's brother Patrick said the family had been left “devastated” by the
“sustained and frenzied knife attack”. He said: “We never have got to say goodbye to him, we never got to
tell him how much we loved and cared for him.

Masked gang members pull out 10-inch "Rambo" knives in a horrifying picture of modern Britain.
Killers in their bedroom and in the garden... and on a school night too!
'Our investigators met the armed mob who are locked in bloody street wars with rivals.
Chillingly, the leader Nico -holding a 12-inch chef's knife -told us: "You wanna know why we carry these?
"Because the world we live in is like being in Game Of Thrones -just like a battlefield.
"And we don't know if we're gonna make it home at the end of each day."...'
Quote:'...One youth, aged 17, revealed his street name was "Bo" because of the Rambo knife he carried for "protection".
He went on: "London and cities like Birmingham are full of rival gangs now. More than ever. They're all fighting for
control of the class-A drugs trade, they're all fighting for their postcodes.
"Yeah, you hear about silly tit-for-tat disputes and stuff over social media and girls and that -but the main beef is over drugs.
That's why people get stabbed. It's business at the end of the day."
The number of criminals caught with knives or other potentially deadly weapons reached its highest level for almost a decade
last year. There were 21,484 such offences that came before the courts -but more than six out of 10 of those arrested and dealt
with by the law were allowed to go free without serving jail terms.
Attacks this month - including the killing of Jodie Chesney, 17, in a playground in east London, and 17-year-old Yousef Makki
in the Manchester suburb of Hale Barns - have sparked fears the spread of knives among the young is out of control.
Fatal stabbings in England and Wales last year were at their highest since records began in 1946.

"My cousin was murdered by ops last year and I used it to take out the boy who did it."
The third lad, called TB, told how easy it was for the gang to get knives, despite a crackdown from retailers.
He said: "It's very easy to get hold of a decent chef knife that is made from stronger reinforced steel and has a serrated edge
so will cut through anything very easily. That's what you want.
"Most back-street stores will sell them. We wouldn't walk into Asda but the noname shop on the corner will sell them."
