Nice one sky!
There are several things going on there...
Number1 is the black velvety table cover which is ideal for hiding slots which can magically make things "appear and disappear" (just slide the cards into and out of the slot in the cover!)
Number2 is only showing one edge of the pack when laying them across the table. (Each card has 4 different (long) edges which can be shown at any given time - Face Left, Face Right, Back Left, Back Right.) You can create up to 4 different looking packs using the one deck... e.g. half of the back of each card (except the top one) is Red and the other half is Blue. Arrange them left to right, face down and the pack looks blue... turn them 180* and do it again... and the pack looks Red!
Turn them over and repeat that process... with one half of the face being normal cards and the other half being a message "PRAY FOR PARIS" and you can spread the cards out to show a normal deck... then spin the deck 180* and spread them out again to show only the message. (Each card covers more than half of the card below it, obscuring the real "half-card half-message" look of the cards.
He is VERY GOOD at the "making them appear and disappear" part though. I'll give him that!

Apart from the slight 'cock-up' with the edge of the Queen of Clubs revealing
where a card can 'disappear' to, I think the rest of it is just magic.

It's just like removing tomato skins by eating them. The next morning in the
toilet bowl, the skins are there but no tomato.
It's just magic... and I shouldn't have said that.
