Early warning signs of a collapsing empire...petro-dollar no more...Weimar Republic 2.0?

Children stand next to a tower of 100,000 marks, equal in value to one US dollar, 1923.

Quote:Post First World War Germany was hit by one of the worst cases of hyperinflation in recent history. The German mark fell from 4.2 marks to the dollar to 8.91 marks per dollar during the First World War but paying war reparations caused an economic collapse with the exchange rate rising to 4,200,000,000,000 marks per dollar by the end of 1923.
Weimar Republic

In the book, "Nuremberg, Infamy On Trial" the cross examination of Herman Goering regarding how and why they eliminated the Weimar Republic is illuminating. Sounds very much like the Democrats of today.
Democracy? "We didnt need it anymore"

"I don't have to worry about Justice; my mission is only to destroy and to exterminate, nothing more."
― Herman Goering (March 3, 1933)

Gilbert: There is one difference. In a democracy, the people have some say in the matter through their elected representatives, and in the United States only Congress can declare wars.

Göring: Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country. It's as easiest as that.

A Day in Roaring 20's Berlin | 1927 AI Enhanced Film [60 fps, 4k]

Quote:Experience of a full day in 1920's Berlin. AI enhanced with deep learning techniques. From dawn until dusk in three minutes. Berlin of the Weimar Republic was a multi-cultural city, teeming with flappers, bobbed hair, cloche hats, and the dancing girls of Berlin's infamous Cabaret scene.

By 1924, post WW1 Germany's economy had stabilized and crime began to decline. This era was known as the "Golden Years" of Weimar. Berlin in particular saw a cultural explosion. The 1929 Crash and Great Depression which followed it, saw an end to democracy and the rise of fascism.

With the rising inflation, food shortages, and war brings us deep state MRE rations...

I think people who have understood what necessity amounts to, those would be the folks who survive SHTF.  It's how quick you could regain your footing and keep people back from your property.  People who can make friends with their neighbors ... and respect them. People who know and understand the value of their neighbors.

This stuff is long term.  Not like surviving a firefight a time or two.  But, making life work.

They're gonna send you back to Mother in a cardboard box
You better run!
