I've still got some of the old compression bandages like you used to carry around in a pouch in your shoulder on the old ALICE LBE, but I don't know if they are still good or not, being so old. The seal is still good on them.
I've also been known to use a kotex and a bandanna to tie it onto the wound in a pinch. Some times, ya just gotta improvise!
I've also thrown my own stitches with a straight sewing needle and black sewing thread off a spool. T'wasn't easy - had to pinch the edges of the wound together and raise them to get the straight needle through, and that didn't tickle at all.
