The CZ75B is one I've been eyeballing, all steel construction and the best shooting 9mm I've fired.
Working up is an okay method. That said, if your wife weighs more than a hundred pounds and has arms (no spaghetti noodles) ... you could have her shooting a full-power .45 in just 15 minutes. It's all about holding the firearm correctly.
