My wife's family is from Germany.  They came to the US in the early 1900's.

They are white, but had never been related to anyone who's ancestors owned slaves.

Are they exempt from paying reparations, or does this include all white people?

Also, how would that work on taxes?

I remember somewhere that it would be unequal taxation which was/is against the Constitution if memory serves.

My ancestors are all still in China (except for my two Aunts in Spirit Form).
My husbands ancestors are all either Blackfoot Sioux Nation peoples or an his mother side German that came to America through Ellis Island.

I have to ask, what about the Chinese brought to America to Build the Railroads under Slave Conditions.
What about the Natives of South America and North America that were Enslaved or Massacred  by the Spanish?

I think that's the point, maybe.

Once you obligate yourself to someone else for the sins of the past, you obligate yourself to anyone.
