If you had a chance to try one out, would you?

I believe there are "gateways" of sorts, but whether they are "stargates" or not is open to question. The inclusion of "star" in the equation serves to load it, and in some ways restrict or limit the concept.

I'd have to have a damn good idea of what was on the other side of the door before I'd dive through one, however, considering some of the denizens who are alleged to have made the trip in this direction. Wouldn't want to dive into a whole universe of some of them!
Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
