Shannon Sharpe Blasted for Saying He’d Rather ‘Pay $20 a Gallon Than Have Trump in Of
#1
Quote:Former NFL great and current FS1 analyst Shannon Sharpe found himself playing defense this weekend after saying that he would rather pay “20 bucks a gallon than have Trump in office.”

The trouble started for Sharpe after he posted a tweet jokingly asking if anyone knew any gas station owners who were hiring. The tweet also showed a $118 purchase at the pump.

“Anyone knows someone hiring that owns a gas station? You get a discount IF* you [work] at an establishment,” Sharpe wrote on Saturday. “Do ppl still siphon off gas? It was a thing when I was a growing up.”

However, when a Twitter follower asked Sharpe whether his dismay at paying Joe Biden’s gas prices made him long for the days of Trump, Sharpe posted this tone-deaf and elitist response.

“I’d rather pay 20 bucks a gallon than have Trump in office,” Sharpe wrote. “Hope that answers your question.”

THIS ONE got me thinking.

TPTB are setting gas prices to "Painful"

It is painful for the everyday guy who has to drive to work.

I think we need to figure out a way to make the price of their gas painful too.  You draw a $15M bonus ... the price of a gallon of gas for you is now $10,000.

Why should the elites be able to afford goods at the same price points that cause the average Joe's wallet pain?  Bet if we could make some rules like that ... where everyone pays at the 'pain level' that there wouldn't be anymore of that crap heaped onto our shoulders.

I would rather see the woke brain dead idiots who got in this mess fired.

Funny thing is that anyone would think this guy's opinion is relevant. I have no idea who this joker is, for all I know he's some kind of Kardashian moron!

I say send flyers to every gas station in the USA with this guy's statement and a current photo so that when he goes to gas up they know to charge him his $20 per gallon. Let's do that for ALL these idiot liberals making this kind of outlandish statement- then watch them try to crawfish their way out of it! It could be a new reality television show and free advertising for all the gas stations that hold their feet to the fire!

Seldom does a post make me do a mental double-take like yours just did!

My first thought was..."Damn straight!!"

Then I had to catch myself and ask..."Whoa there, Hoss!  How is this different than the 'Distribution of Wealth' and 'Tax the Rich' mentalities of the liberal left???  Am I being a hypocrite here??"

Very interesting question you've posed!  (Seriously)

Leave it to Sharpe, of all people, to make me actually "think" about something!  LOL!  He's always talked non-stop smack, both on and off the field.  BTW, his bonus was only $4.5 million (not $15m), and that whole Ravens thing still pisses me off, but that's beside the point.  To hear him defend Biden (even a little bit) with a statement like that, just dredges up me being pissed off all over again.  Regardless, your response did make me think more directly about the more pertinent question here.

I guess my final answer is...having Sharpe pay $10,000/gal of gas wouldn't really make me feel any better about paying $20/gal of gas; me or anyone else.  Biden can suck it...and so can Sharpe if he wants to stick up for Biden.

What you've highlighted is an interesting 3-way question.

1. On the one hand we have the question of the idiocy of people "voting" (if that's really what happened, personally I question it) for the likes of Biden just because of their loathing of Trump.  I can't run very fast even without all the gunshot holes in my feet!

2. On the other hand, we have the question of the mantra of the left, Redistribution of Wealth without regard to merit.  A twisted sort of 'reparations' if you will.  We're 'racist' if we don't subscribe to this notion, right?  LOL!

3. On the 3rd hand, we have the notion of the same mentality being used, but in reverse.   Perhaps it's deserving, especially for those who espouse those ideals (i.e. the left, right?), but then we must ask ourselves...are we being not racist, but 'class-ist', against a certain segment of society?

It's a double edged sword!

I must admit, as I sit here and write this I am having a very difficult time separating my emotion, my anger, from rational and objective thought.  The answer seems easy at first glance, but is it really?

If we could isolate the question to just the elements being discussed above, the answer might be easy, but I personally can't overlook Asskrackistan, I can't overlook the secret flights of illegals into this country to pad the voter roles, the failures at every turn, the lockdowns, the economy, the outright disregard of the Constitution...the TREASON!  I just can't overlook that!

Sadly, Shannon Sharpe is just a symptom.  The "Disease" is far more advanced.  The liberal, socialist and communist bent of the left is just that 'Disease', and guys like Shannon Sharpe are just a drop in an ocean of evil!

It's not the little guy who figures out how much he 'owes'.  There's always been somebody 'up there' making that call ... followed by, "Or else!!"

1. I voted (against all of my better judgement for Trump ... twice) against the other guy.  Though I have grave reservations over election-rigging.  The curves and the spike are a just a dead giveaway.

2. I'm not a redistribution of wealth kind'a guy.  But ... if we're forced to pay ... then everyone should pay at the exact same threshold of pain.  A single individual who has managed to amass way more than anyone else shouldn't get to make the rules that it's simply a dollar-for-dollar individual responsibility.  Are you taking a percentage of money out of my pocket?  I want the same percentage out of yours.  Let Elon brag that he's paid the most taxes of any one person EVER.  I didn't lose a minute of sleep over him paying what was owed.  Elizabeth Warren though?  I rather she keeps her ounces of gold while I get pounds of her flesh.

3.  I'd like to hear other people's opinions on this particular element.  The person I'd like to hear a defense from is @"AugustusMasonicus". I'm sure he has a developed perspective.

Would I feel better about Sharpe paying $10,000 per gallon of gas? Nope.  I'd be in too much pain from filling up my Tundra to feel good about much of anything.  You don't see me proposing taxes on anything.  I'm in the highest 'paying' bracket.  You stick the little guy for $20/gal ... and I can only imagine the cost to me.

I'm sure you realized my statements were really just thoughts out loud about various angles and permutations of thought on the interesting questions you laid forth, and not a response directly to you (as if you were supporting such notions as I opined about), correct?

Your response to #3 is curious.  Once again, you've posed an interesting question wherein at face value there is perhaps one 'easy' answer, but upon further consideration there may be several angles and/or interpretations requiring a multi-layered and qualified response.

You're on a roll here with this one, Snarl!  ?

Yep.

I had never even heard of Shannon Sharpe before I posted this. And, back aways in the thread, the $15M bonus guy I alluded to was my old boss.  Surprised me that you knew what Sharpe's bonus number was.  You're well-informed, Brother!!

Shannon Sharpe was a widely acclaimed Tight End for the Denver Broncos for many years.  After 9 years with the Broncos, Sharpe, as a Free Agent, decided to take a position with the Baltimore Ravens.  It was a $14 million, 7 year deal, with a $4.5 million dollar bonus.  At the same time, the Broncos were offering Sharpe $2.5 million per year to remain in Denver.  Sharpe took the Ravens deal rather than staying in Denver.

It's ironic, your point about Sharpe paying $20,000/gal for gas; he probably paid a hell of a lot more than that!  If you do the math, you quickly realize it would have been a much better deal for the 9 year veteran to take the Broncos deal than to opt for the Ravens deal.  So, depending on how you slice it, roughly $4-5 million bucks, divided by $20,000 (per gallon), would have bought him about 250 gallons of gas.  Instead, he got no gas, and wound up returning to Denver two seasons later, so he could retire a Bronco.

His jersey, number 84, still got retired to the Denver "Ring of Fame" though.

I personally always thought he was a great player, albeit with a bit of a big mouth on him, but I have a hard time forgiving and forgetting the Ravens deal though.

1) I neither know nor care who this Shannon Sharpe is, and care even less about his(?) opinion on, well, anything.

2) Why should this person have to pay that kind of money at the pump? If they are so gung-ho to throw their money away, there are all kinds of questionable "charities" out there begging for it, so they can just load that shit into a wheelbarrow and deliver it at their earliest convenience. Put their money where their mouth is, y'know?

3) a sliding payment scale based upon wealth posession would have a whole host of Leftist consequences tailor-made to redistributing "wealth". Just imagine - you pay according to your wealth possession, negating the advantages to possessing wealth to begin with. Furthermore, you are paying those rates to someone else, thereby increasing THEIR wealth and putting THEM in the hot seat, negating  the advantages of doing business to begin with - why charge money for something when it means that your profit from that sale is just going to get sucked away by someone else, who will just continue that same cycle ad infinitum? Hell, those prospects would never be enough to even get me out of bed in the morning!

4) I really wish you had never come up with this idea - now that it is out in the open, I expect to see AOC grab it and run with it by the end of the week!

.
Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’

Sounds like the less you have, the more you get. The more you have the more you have, the more you pay.

The incentive then becomes, own nothing and be happy.

For every one person that read this post. About 7.99 billion have not.

Yet I still post.  tinyinlove
