I heard that they tried to fire a new Chemical Powered Torpedo, it was suppose to be like a solid fueled rocked and faster than any other torpedo used.
Once fired no submarine could evade it.
It exploded the the tube when fired and set off other conventional powered torpedo's.
That is what I understood, happened, Unfortunately for the men aboard and their families.
