As a RN member, you are given various options as to how you would like the site to work for you.

You can adjust those options, such as deciding between a dark theme and a light theme, from your profile area

Simply go to "User CP" (User control panel) that can be found on top left of navigation bar
[Image: gsuPpmv.png]

From there, you will find all kinds of settings, including your private messages and edit profile

When you click on "EDIT OPTIONS" that is where you will find message settings, date & time setting,  forum display options, thread options

To set the theme to a different setting, look down to right bottom corner and you will see "BOARD STYLE"
When done updating options, just make sure to hit "Update Options" for them to save

You can also find the option to change themes at the very bottom right corner of each page as well, for easy switching
(The default theme is light)
Select one and then hit "GO"

Posting Threads

To make a thread, go to the forum category that your topic would go under

For instance, a political topic might go under "Political News and more"
Click that forum and it will take you to it's thread topics

Look to the right, and you will see a button for "POST THREAD"
Click it......

Once you hit post new thread, you will see all the various editing tools needed

  • bold/italic/underline/strike
  • text alignment
  • font name/size/color
  • insert horizontal line
  • images
  • email
  • insert link/unlink
  • videos
  • smiley box
  • bullet list
  • numbered list
  • code
  • quote
  • maximize

And yes.....there is a preview window as well
Just make sure you have the title to the topic inserted, or it will give you message error
(Thread Subject=Title of Topic)

Please remember when making a thread topic, to include the following:
  • provide Source link
  • article content needs to be in a quote box, so readers know it came from source
  • leave a comment of your own thoughts regarding the topic
  • split up large bodies of text into paragraphs for easier reading
  • allow a space in between multiple images/videos
  • and remember, that it may be shared to social media, so keep it clean and tidy with lots of info for viewers

*NOTE: to place article content in a quote box, you can click on the quote button on the far top right and copy/paste text into the box.

Or manually do it by placing the quote code around text as shown below:

Code:
[quote]Insert article content here[/quote]

Discussion Forum (Categories)

To find the discussion categories, you can either click on the Rogue-Nation banner at top, or click on the "Discussion Forum" shown on left side of page
___________________________________________
[Image: hcZ9fE4.png]
___________________________________________

As well as small at bottom of page

There you will find various topics, ranging from politics, history, social unrest to the paranormal, conspiracies, tech, science, space and so much more!!

The sub-categories themselves can be closed up for those that you may not be interested in and therefore, not taking up as much room on page
Simply look for the small white rectangle icon on far right in the topic header

Say you really don't care for world news, you can close the sub-categories

This is what it looks like closed...

To open it again, simply hit the small white rectangle icon and all the sub-cats will reappear

You can also tell when new replies are made, by the icon to the left of forum changes to another color

Dark Theme:

Example of one new reply, the other has none
[Image: P8rp9sb.png]

Light Theme:

Quoting & Editing in Post

When typing a post, to quote someone directly, you can select the "REPLY" button at bottom  right of post area

You can however, still manually insert the quote code tags if you desire as shown below:
Code:
[quote]insert text here[/quote]

That is different from posting a "NEW REPLY" that can be found at top of thread or on bottom
New reply is just that, new

To edit a post, go to bottom right of post and click on "EDIT"
It will give you 2 choices
  • quick edit
  • full edit
[Image: NcXaKwY.png]

For quick edit make needed changes, then hit "SAVE CHANGES" on bottom left
(or cancel edit)

A full edit will have the post show up in it's entirety, images and all.
Plus allows the preview window to be used

Once post is edited, click on "UPDATE POST" to save changes

Thanks guys!

I also found out, accidentally mind you, that it saves what you "Preview"

Like when my browser crashed while working on a post, I was like #$@&*% damn it!

But when I brought it back up, the part that had been previewed saved.....whew
I was like YES!

Not sure if that was a fluke or what, but it saved what I had already previewed.
(Boy, I really am liking the preview window a lot  )

Thread Rating

At the top right of a thread, you will see 5 stars that you can rate a thread topic by

________________________________________

Just make sure to hit the appropriate star

As explained by Big G....

Quote:EVERYONE can rate a thread once.
BUT
If the first person gives it ONE STAR... The thread is rated 1 star.
IF the next person gives it 5 stars... The average is 3 stars, so the thread is then rated 3.

The rating for the thread is the AVERAGE of ALL of the ratings given, but if a member is used to giving "A STAR" for a thread or post they like (e.g. on ATS) then it will mean GREAT threads getting poor ratings from members "giving it A star" thereby lowering the average star rating.
G

So please make sure if you think the thread deserves 5 stars, to hit the fifth star on far right (5 star rating)
Not the first one on left  (1 star rating)
If you think it is in the middle, hit the 3rd star and so on

Signatures

What is a signature?

A signature is the small space at bottom of your post, where you can input a saying, link or image

You can edit the sig from your 'User CP' settings
> Look down until you see "CHANGE SIGNATURE"

Click on it and a window will open up for you to fix your signature

The max length is 225 characters

Be mindful however, even tho there is no "height" limit set, please do not exceed over 125px when using images
Or images and text combined

***NOTE: If signature is too tall, staff will have to remove it until the height is adjusted***
