Finn, we have numerous food banks and food pantries. There are places where you can get clothing, for yourself and for your children.
No one breaks into a home in America to find food or clothing.
During an emergency or disasters, people travel from all over the US to offer food, water, clothing, and aide.
Looters post disaster, are pretty low, and it is never about food or water.
Personally, I don't own anything that is worth a person's life. But I will try to protect the life of my loved ones and neighbors, from the hands of anyone that is so callous as to take advantage of those suffering through such calamity.
The opportunist, looters and thieves have little regard for the property or the lives of others.
You give me hope Finn. There really are too many greedy and selfish folk out there. You remind me that they are still a minority. The goods guys are still hanging in there.
For every one person that read this post. About 7.99 billion have not.
