For those who have had the joys of working or living in the Mid-East where 122F in the shade teaches you that the old saying of drinking plenty of water is a bad idea. You eliminate/sweat all the electrolytes out of your body and end up cramping an dying. Operators know this and for a few months before deployment they cut back on their water consumption and up their vitamin/mineral intake while working out.
Agreed on the water consumption. If all you drink is that, you will just throw up water. You really need those minerals and electrolytes. Back in the day they used to give out salt tablets before Gatorade was widely available in theater.
