No surprise there. Saudi money has been funding mosques and madrassahs in poorer countries for many years. It is amazing how far $10,000 will go in a poorer country.
I was in Bangladesh in the early 2000s and was made aware of the madrassahs, which are ostensibly schools run by an imam, in the countryside. These are seen as a breeding/training ground for radicals as most of the curriculum is the Koran, and a lot of indoctrination is done there - at an early age.
Also at that time, post 911, I was talking to a security guy in one of the embassies and he was telling me he was aware of the location of several training camps for Muslim terrorists in the country, and it was an open secret. Money for these, and for the weapons is coming from somewhere, and S of A is a logical place as they have so much disposable income (I also lived in the Middle East for over ten years), it is beyond the comprehension of the average person.
