I didn't watch it, but I can say that humans as a whole(or an average) aren't capable of reaching further planets and colonizing. 

We'd need a major, worldwide cultural reform(AKA, massive genocide) to reach the minimum level of intelligence to move outside our world.

Judging by how things are progressing those plans are already underway.
