Where is it all going?

Last night I had a long talk with my mother, something we do at least once or twice per week. Mom isn't very much older than I, having gotten married and given birth to me whilst still in high school as many did in those times. If you spoke to her or even met her in person you would never guess her age as she is one of those rare people who seem to be timeless, riding the waves of decades effortlessly and changing with the tides.

We speak of many things during our conversations just as we always have. There is no such thing as a "taboo" subject and often things become quite interesting, but last night she said something to me that still gives me chills this morning:

"I do not know this world any more." 

The tone of her voice is what shook me- I have never heard her utter anything more seriously in my life. Now mind you, my mother has never been particularly religious. I could probably count on one hand the amount of times I have ever seen her enter a church. She has never been a fan of "doom porn" or subscribed to any sort of apocalypse- Biblical or otherwise...until now.

So we started talking about the signs of the Apocalypse. They are definitely there for those with eyes to see and even for some who never previously took such possibilities seriously. It is ironic because many years ago I had delved into Biblical prophecy with great passion, a trip down the "rabbit hole" that occupied around three years of my time, and my mother found it quite humorous. Now she finds very little, if any, humor in my former pastime.  

As we spoke she frequently made that nervous little laugh that denotes her fear, something she has only previously done when a loved one is dying or a strong hurricane is barreling straight toward her door. It was very unnerving.

None of us know for sure exactly what the future holds. Our elders are becoming frightened by all that is changing so quickly in this world. Please check on your elders and let them know that no matter what comes down the pike that you are here for them. It only takes a few moments of your day to make a phone call that may mean very little to you but means everything to them. 

As long as we have love and kindness for each other hope is still alive.

It is still your world and it's still your Mom's world. Walk outside, smell the sweet air, smile at a neighbor and watch the babies play in their yards. Look up at the blue sky or in the evening, stare up at the stars.

What has changed is our media. News is no longer something we watch before dinner for a half an hour and then consider what we've seen and then move on with our lives. It's a 24/7 bachannal of death, dismemberment, indifference to suffering and a conga line of nefarious characters that want to steal your soul and take your stuff.


The new carpetbaggers understand what motivates and drives you and it's fear. People only make decisions based on two criteria. Those are to gain a benefit or to avoid a loss. This is universal truth so if I want you to do something, I will need to appeal to your primordial lizard brain on one of those two very prescient points.
A very good way to do that is to create bogeymen or strawman that can steal all you hold dear.

If I can convince you they are at your doorstep and I hold the answer that will either keep them at bay or eradicate them if you will only follow me into the fray, then we can once again live in a Shangrila that in all acuality, never really existed.


The human memory is short. Because of this we're vulnerable to this kind of venal and visceral rhetoric when in reality, none of what's been manifested is real. Most of this is a fever dream that the internet feeds with it's confirmation bias. You will find what you search for.


If what you seek is negative and hateful, you will find it. if on the other hand you search out nurturing love and fill yourself with gratitude for what you have and others that share that experience, you'll find that as well.

The world is the same as it ever was. What has changed is the exploiters have a world wide forum and we have a way to tap in to their fear filled paranoia..

Unfortunately, a crowd will gather to watch a trainwteck or a house burn. It doesn't mean that this is playing out everywhere and it's up to us to make sure we don't slip into a world where all we see is that house or the trainwreck.


Freedom still exists and the internet is not our overlord. We are all loving and sentient beings. If we choose to strengthen that side of our psyche, it will prevail, if not, we can slip into madness.

But the reality is, the world hasn't changed. Our perceptions though, are constantly assaulted if we allow them to be.


If you want your old world back, take it back. It's at your doorstep.
