New army rifle
#5
Looks to me like they're about to learn the shortcomings of a new and really expensive weapons system. G.I. Johnny better not get too reliant on it, or Jihad Jimmy will wind up killing him with rocks and breaking his new toys.

Good Lord - does no one recall the K.I.S.S. principle? Did they stop teaching that when they came out with M4's and all their battery operated geegaws?

I recall in April of 2004 when I was approached for a contract in Baghdad. The recruiter was all sorts of gushy about the issue weapons - M4's and Sigs, Said I could put any kind of geegaws on my M4 that my heart desired. Pfft! I asked him if I couldn't just take my own kit, and bypass the Buck Rogers Leggo set, and he said no.

I didn't go, and I'm still here.

There comes a time when technology becomes your worst enemy, because you get too reliant on shit that breaks or dies. Mr Murphy steps in, and there you are, all naked and squealing.

Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
