My dentist mentioned this - ancientlight - 10-22-2022

Hi all.
I hope you're all enjoying the start of the weekend  minusculebeercheers

I have been wondering about something my dentist mentioned. I was not paying too close attention (adhd perhaps),
but I think he mentioned something about me having a 'nodule' or polyp inside my mouth somewhere?
I think he also asked if my tonsils were ever removed.

He said "if I was you I'd get it looked at by an ETN (ear, throat, and nose) specialist'

So , what does this mean?

A nothing burger I'm sure, and I'm not worried, just curious  minusculebiggrin

I had a similar thing in my mouth, next to the upper 5th right teeth. I went to a surgeon and she cut it.

I dunno, man. I can't really give any advice other than to say that if your dentist said see an ENT doc, then probably go see an ENT doc.

My teeth were great up until about 4 years ago, then they started going all to hell, and crumbling while I watch. Probably gonna be what kills me in the end.

The only "nodules" I've had so far are salivary stones - kinda like kidney stones, but in the salivary ducts. if they block one good enough, it causes one or the other of the salivary glands to swell and hurt, kinda like mumps. I treat them with rum - lots and lots of rum. The rum sterilizes everything, and eventually relaxes stuff enough that the stones just kinda pop out of the duct and unblock it... but that ain't medical advice I'd recommend. Works for me, but I wouldn't expect it to work for everyone.

It gets a little harrowing right towards the end of the treatment.

I've also had an abscess for about 3 months which seems to be going away now... and that is a wee bit scary. Where the hell is it going TO?

I can't advise Ancient Light either and I know what you're (Ninurta) are going through, I too occasionally get those bastard abscesses and

Had polyps inside my nose back in the days by the way.

It was a mess, really. Bone structure was missing from the top of my left eye and left it vulnerable to infections. Had to take a lot of cortisone pills. That made me very sleepy.

So they drilled my skull and i spent 1 week in a hospital. I have 27 stitches, from ear to ear, across the top of my head. That is why i have longer hair than what most men have.

I can’t give any advice either. I’d just visit an ENT specialist just for peace of mind. I had swelling in my left cheek around my jaw, and the dentist couldn’t find anything. I saw an ENT specialist. He said there was something on the very back of my tongue. They did a procedure called a laryngoscopy to take a closer look. It turned out to be not much of anything. They tweaked it a little. Then they checked me agin a couple of weeks later. Seems the tweaking worked, because the issues with the swelling went away.

So yeah, get it checked out. It can’t hurt, and if there is something, it may help.

Look, OP.

Google will not help you with this. Online forum will not help you with this.

What i suggest for you to do, is to see a healthcare professional about this.

Wishing health 4 u minusculebeercheers

I hope the polyps didn't cause bone loss ? Why the missing bone structure? I'm assuming because of surgery ?

Bone structure goes missing 'usually' because of the way you chew. If you're missing a tooth, you'll 'usually' get bone loss under that gap.

A polyp is a knob-like growth. I'm surprised you didn't know it was there. If your dentist didn't want to deal with it, please go see the doc as recommended.

RE: My dentist mentioned this - Finspiracy - 10-23-2022

I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled out via surgery year 2000.

That way you got away from military service for a week.

I fucking dunno really. But it was not the polyps.

I dived head first through these frozen concrete stairs in a suburb when i was young. Something broke, from the top of my left eye. And all kinds of bugs got in there and it was infected constantly. That is why all the cortisone. Sucked.

Right directly after your forehead bone, brains are not yet there. There are cavities. Mine are filled with bio glass now.

The top of my head looks like this:

So i am sure you get my drift, when i say i have somewhat long hair and i am known as "The Local Kurt Cobain" around here.
