What did attack this ship - guohua - 11-17-2020 I don't know it this would be classified as a Cryptozoology attack, but I think so. Quote:USS Stein Monster Yes and what a Monster it must have been. Quote:In 1978, the USS Stein - a United States Navy Knox-class destroyer escort which was named after Medal of Honor recipient Tony Stein - was running special operations in the Pacific Ocean somewhere between Acapulco and Ecuador, when it encountered something extremely large and entirely unseen in the water. Now That is One Very BIG Squid! RE: What did attack this ship - Ninurta - 11-17-2020 I was watching a documentary on Archeteuthys last night, and they told the tale of a ship's captain who saw a squid in the ocean that he said was as long as his ship - which was 175 feet long. Of course, it was a ship's captain's report, so the specific species of squid was not mentioned in it. There's THINGS out in that deep, dark, water! . RE: What did attack this ship - Mystic Wanderer - 11-17-2020 RE: What did attack this ship - ABNARTY - 11-17-2020 Alright!!! Love me some mysterious giant squid attack stories. Whenever those shows come on, I am there. There have to be some huge, weird things down in the depths. Here we are in 2020 and we are supposed to be all that. Yet we discover new species all the time. What fun would it be if we knew everything already and there was no exciting mystery in the sea? RE: What did attack this ship - Wallfire - 11-17-2020 I love storys like this, if true the beastie attacked the destroyer and I would think it had a close and personal encounter with the ships propellers and that would mean, Destroyer -1 beastie - 0. I wonder how many of these beasties have attacked ships not understanding that they would get chewed up by the propellers, and no one onboard would of noticed RE: What did attack this ship - Schmoe1 - 11-17-2020 Makes sense that it's a particularly giant squid, when you consider what squid try to do do whales. They latch on to the face and the whale just starts eating. This huge squid likely thought the ship was a whale. Apparently they suffer from having eyes bigger than their stomachs lol RE: What did attack this ship - guohua - 11-17-2020 Pictures of sucker marks on Sperm Whales. RE: What did attack this ship - Tarzan the apeman. - 11-17-2020 Thanks for sharing this. I just love these kinds of mysteries. RE: What did attack this ship - GeauxHomeLittleD - 11-18-2020 Just imagine all the calamari you could make from a squid that big! Now I just need to find some "Jack and the Beanstalk" sized tomatoes to make enough marinara for dipping! RE: What did attack this ship - guohua - 11-18-2020 Was it a giant squid that attacked and ate this Marlin? RE: What did attack this ship - Ninurta - 11-18-2020 I found it! I found the Kraken! It was lurking in my living room, right next to my chair, the entire time! It was a close call, but I killed it! Release the Kraken! .
