The 'owners' are gonna try to milk it.  I can't believe the drama.  They're trying to come up with a million dollars ... and they don't even know what they're gonna get when they buy it.

I remember there was a guy once who seriously offered/tried to help ... just wanted to fix all the (obviously) broken code.  Trust me (I am qualified to make this call), the guy knew exactly what he was talking about.  What happened?  Ban hammer.  Like clockwork.

I really hate to see that site go down. I have warm fuzzy feelings for it because it was the first board I ever got on. So many threads I made over there will now be gone into the cyber space graveyard; good threads too. And others from some great members that I had saved in my subs.

It's losing the content that disturbs me the most. I have my friends here.

I've been backing up like a madman. I've got all of my own threads backed up locally, and the Space Opera thread... but now I face the daunting task of backing up a thread with over 250 pages. Going by recent experience, I expect that to take 2 1/2 to 3 days. It's grueling, but needs to be done.

They've got 50 GB of thread data, plus around 3 TB of image data. A full site backup could be contained on a 4 TB portable hard drive that can be had at Walmart for just under 100 bucks, but the time investment to get the backup data is unreal. Someone with access to the back end over there could do it, but we've got no one like that here, so we do what we can, and grab what is ours before it goes kaput.

It Doesn't here, but we are not as Large as they are and I don't have a fourth of their MODS or SUPERMODS.
Unless you have the site tied with Ad Companies and maybe Google.

I heard they were not happy about people using Ad-Blockers.

All I can say for sure is this. You don't need an Ad-Blocker to be a Rogue.
My Tech Guru (Sol) and I pay for Your Site.
I just wish Sol had more free time to visit us here, he is running his Own Business Now and has a Family, working 15 hour days 6 and sometimes 7 days a week.
I don't understand all the Back-End Stuff and @"gordi" does help A LOT! 
But there are two areas of what I call The Back-End and I have access to both, the Deepest Back-End gives me the most problems.
I have a hard time understanding it and when I translate to Mandarin Chinese it is even more confusing, Sorry.

I guess what I'm getting at is, My husband has to call Sol and he has to come by when he can, So I'm Sorry if there is ever any outages.
So far, we've been running Flawlessly!

I don't foresee Violations Coming. 
We don't tolerate Pedophilia, unwanted sexual advances or Bad Mouthing Members or Other Sites and I don't think anyone here would do any of those things.

I know people who donated quite a lot, and I just couldn't quite believe it. I love the place, pretty much grew up there, but sometimes things just seem off, and I don't get peoples reactions to it.

I nor any of my Friends here as Admin's or Mod's or Super-Mod's will ask for Donations, we do have a donate button at the bottom of the first page, but to be Honest, I don't know if it works

I know I haven't posted here much, but I do still slink around.   I may, or may not have PM'd a few nice people over there with a link to this website.  I hate to see ATS go down, but it sure seems like the owners just don't care anymore.

And yeah, you all have been very welcoming.  

I have gone pretty much into lurking phase myself, but every once in a while I too get triggered, and have to come forth and say my piece. It is purely an egotistical act on my part, because I learned a long time ago that nobody wants to hear what you have to say, if it is not something they already agree with.

I joined ATS because I am one of those people that just cannot accept something that I can't make sense out of. My close friends and family call me an information junkie. ATS helped me find truth and it helped me see things through the eyes of others. I love ATS and I will likely continue to visit until there is a no more, but I am very careful about what and where I post. I agree it is not the same ATS, but nothing stays the same.

ATS is not alone with this shift in the paradigm. I dumped all the social media sites, and only participate in now three forums. When things get nasty and civil discourse turns into hateful dialogue, when the only intent is lunge and riposte, when it is just about making your point without any attempt at trying to understand, I retreat.

I'm not against donations at all, I used to donate to a Music site I visited years ago! It was just the way in which it happened and peoples reactions that took me back a bit at the time.
I could be overthinking it, which is a trait of mine, and I know zero about running a site, so pinch of salt and all that!

This place feels very homely, same as ATS always has, probably a bit more relaxed here, which I like a lot!

The reason this site was started was for a place people could get away and feel like they were among Family and Just relax and Say WHAT ever was on their mind and Know that No One Here would Judge Them and more often than not, they found Very like Minded People and People Who Cared.

There is NO demand to post here, we make NO monies Off the Content of your post by how many Views it had or how many people Hit That "Like" button.

Your time here is For YOU to feel Comfortable and Safe with your Thoughts.

That is My Goal and the Goal of My Admin's, Super-Mod's and Mod's.
