Connections By James Burke.

James Burke's 'Connections' A Seventies Look on What We Still Take For Granted.

It's a fantastic collection of mature episodes that -to those who appreciate how complex the
world is and how we rely on mechanisms we rarely fathom, will show how poorly we have
become in appreciating our surroundings and rational-thinking.

Watched most of the first one. The others are on my list, but I'm quite busy now, so I don't know when I'll have time.

It most certainly does show us how we take things for granted today.

I learned to appreciate my air conditioning a few years ago when our heat pump went on the blink. And wouldn't you know, it was the hottest summer on record here. I had to go outside and sit on the porch in 103 F degree weather because it was about 20 degrees hotter inside. The nights were miserable, too hot to sleep. We didn't have the money to buy a new heat pump, no credit cards, an no idea what we were going to do. About three weeks later, Hubby did some trading and found someone who fixed it for us. Whew! I have since learned to deeply appreciate the machines we have today and how they affect our lives for the better... most of them. I no longer take ANYTHING for granted.
