The American Bumblebee Has Vanished From Eight States

I'm not too worried those will sting me. Sometimes one might flit on me and just spend a few minutes resting. They are such hard workers. The bumblebees around here are big and fat. They are fun to watch when they're pollinating.

Remember, without bees, Earth is fucked. We need our bees. That's one species that I hope never gets near being extinct.

Bumble bees were about the only pollinators that I saw working my tobacco this year, although in my eastern tobacco patch, I did notice a hummingbird hanging out in the vicinity of the tobacco, but never saw it actually working any of the flowers.

I did not see more than two honey bees the entire year, which is odd considering that my grandpa used to keep honey bees on this patch, and it's a certainty that some of them should have escaped the gums and made colonies out in the woods.

@"Michigan Swamp Buck" - Would you be interested in doing some seed trading? Say a couple grams of the Rustica I have for a couple grams of the Virginia you have? I made some mistakes raising mine this year, and ended up with as much weight in seed as I had in leaf the last time I weighed them out, but I still have some seed developing and some leaf curing, so the fat lady hasn't sung the final song just yet.

.
Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
