U.S. military 2021 ...

I'm pretty sure they are after a military they can reliably turn on the people of the nation should we get too far out of line to suit them. In other words, they are not trying to turn the military socialist so much as trying to set it up so it can be turned against NON-socialists. That is the only logical reason I can think of for the "social changes" and new rules being made in the ranks, together with the political purity tests being inflicted on the troops and the concurrent witch hunts for conservative ideologies within the military, in order to discharge them from the ranks.

The last time the military encountered this sort of divisiveness was during the Vietnam War, when there was some amount of racial tension among some of the troops in Vietnam. That unrest was sparked by, and mirrored, the social unrest going on back in the world in those days.

Now, we are seeing the same thing, sort of, with social unrest from the streets spilling over into the military as well, the main difference being that now the government is encouraging it, so that they can grow a military that will support them against a pissed off population. The problem, for them, with their strategy is that the same things they are doing to bend the military to their will, to shape and mold it to their liking, are also the things that will drastically degrade it's effectiveness as a fighting force.

So they will end up with a VERY obedient and compliant armed service, but one which very easily gets it's ass kicked regularly by Boy Scout troops. It won't be as useful for the purposes they want to use it for as they think it will.

That's why I'm starting to think that local militias are the future of National Defense, same as they were back when the nation started up. A centralized national government cannot effectively project force into the hinterlands by pussifying it's only armed defense. Local commanders, by contrast, can and will avoid all the pitfalls of pussifying their troops in favor of being more effective as a fighting force, which is kinda the entire purpose of a military.

Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
