Times like this is when I am glad that we no longer travel Last time we paid that high gas was post hurricane Katrina -- gas shot up to $4.50 - $5/gal I remember Jim saying what will happen, is when it drops down to $3.50/gal we all will be like *whew* what a deal --- when in actuality, it was still higher than what it was before the hurricane And he was right. LOL During the shutdown the prices dropped dramatically due to the supply & demand came to a halt, literally. No cars No planes Sure a few people still were working, but the workforce for the most part was at a standstill for a good while. Or working from home remotely It was a ghost town when I went to town The skies were the bluest I had seen since I was a kid with no planes/pollution in the air Anyway, the forecast for the inflation and gas prices is not looking very encouraging for the next few months. Hopefully the "experts" will be wrong The greedy corps gonna get their monies back that they lost during the shutdown and the 'war' is the perfect excuse RE: Price of gas is heading into insane territory! - Bally002 - 03-12-2022 (03-12-2022, 05:20 AM)senona Wrote:Current cost here is $2.25 per litre which works out as(03-11-2022, 10:26 PM)guohua Wrote: The average cost of diesel in Arizona is $5. a gallon and unleaded is $4.85 a gallon. 2.26 * 3.7854118 $8.555030668 Aust per gallon to my math. RE: Price of gas is heading into insane territory! - senona - 03-14-2022 @"Bally002" I wonder what the cost of living in other countries is compared to the U.S.? I've got many internet buddies that are not from the U.S. and they have mentioned the cost of gas where they live being equivalent to $8-$9/gal here..... So it made me feel like we shouldn't be complaining since ours is only approximately $5-6+/gal (runs more in some areas) But then someone had mentioned cost of living, so maybe that is why Americans are in shock & whining when it is not as high as in other countries I know minimum wage around here sucks big time, but as they do raise it, up goes the cost of living as well it seems. Supply & demand plays a large factor as well I have several coworkers that no longer drive but rather walk or ride a bicycle due to trying to save money I personally think the oil companies are trying to find an excuse to jack the prices up to make up for the billions of dollars they lost during the shutdown and are just using the war with Russia/Ukraine to increase gas prices Just my humble opinion, mind you I am fortunate in that my work place is not far from where I live, nor are the grocery stores And other than going to see my sister every month or so (she lives about 120 miles away) I really do not go any where these days. I just stay at home and play with my dogs --- who end up getting my money RE: Price of gas is heading into insane territory! - NightskyeB4Dawn - 03-14-2022 (03-14-2022, 05:27 AM)senona Wrote: @"Bally002" I wonder what the cost of living in other countries is compared to the U.S.? I haven't checked in the city, but these are the prices out here in the country, in my neck of the woods. On the rich folk side it is going for: Regular $4.90 Midgrade $5.80 Premium $6.40 Diesel $6.10 Notice the difference between diesel and premium on the rich side of town? They don't have much of a market for diesel over there. RE: Price of gas is heading into insane territory! - ancientlight - 03-22-2022 (03-10-2022, 10:11 PM)ABNARTY Wrote: Filled up today. When everything is down and broken, they will come and 'rescue' us I do hope I'm wrong about everything, I really do, as I do not see a bright future at all. RE: Price of gas is heading into insane territory! - ralph21 - 03-22-2022 I'm in Aus and the price of fuel has spiked to AU$2.15/L as a result of the Ukraine-Russia war which is interesting as (I thought) we don't purchase any of our oil from Russia - mostly from OPEC and UK?. Still, it cost me almost $100 to fill my small, 6 y/o hatch back. RE: Price of gas is heading into insane territory! - vonclod - 03-22-2022 1.95-2.00$ p litre, for 87, so around 6.50$ US.
