Even an old dog can learn - GeauxHomeLittleD - 12-27-2021 Well it took me long enough but when you've done things one way for such a long time old habits die hard. Last night I finally changed search engines. When you type something into your search bar that used to bring up pages of links and now because of censorship the same search only produces three related links which contain basically nothing but a mention it is time to move on. Hubs told me "Here, try this one!" and I was most pleased to find page after page of relevant links... and down the rabbit hole I went. Hello Darkness my old friend! Even an old dog can learn a new trick every now and then. Sometimes it just takes a little longer. RE: Even an old dog can learn - F2d5thCav - 12-27-2021 Which search engine are you now using? Cheers RE: Even an old dog can learn - GeauxHomeLittleD - 12-27-2021 (12-27-2021, 06:29 PM)F2d5thCav Wrote: Which search engine are you now using? Right now I'm using DuckDuckGo but I will be trying others as well to decide what is the best fit for me. What search engines do you use? I'm willing to give them all a day in court. RE: Even an old dog can learn - F2d5thCav - 12-27-2021 @"GeauxHomeLittleD" Sadly, the engines seem to have become politicized like everything else. DDG isn't bad in terms of results, but there are persistent rumors that they feed their data to third parties while denying they do that. We know Google does that, as well as censorship. I use DDG at times and I've tried Qwant. Qwant sometimes has irritating small delays, and doesn't find as much as DDG or Google. Often, if I don't like the results one engine gives, I'll try another just to see if it picks up something the other didn't. Cheers RE: Even an old dog can learn - Kenzo - 12-27-2021 These are some search engines https://swisscows.com/ https://www.mojeek.com/ https://yandex.com/ Also https://presearch.org/ , thought have not much check it RE: Even an old dog can learn - GeauxHomeLittleD - 12-27-2021 (12-27-2021, 07:14 PM)Kenzo Wrote: These are some search engines Thanks! I will give them a try. Pretty sure I'm not going back to Google and haven't been back to Mozilla since they went all "woke". I'm just really tired of so much censorship. I'm not a child and don't need "mommy" screening what I read or watch. Heck, my real mom never did that! RE: Even an old dog can learn - F2d5thCav - 12-28-2021 Re: net censorship. Our society is in the grip of control freaks who all cover for each other. Cheers RE: Even an old dog can learn - F2d5thCav - 12-28-2021 @"GeauxHomeLittleD" Another option is dogpile.com -- IIRC, it aggregates the results of several search engines. Don't know about censorship there, but since Google is one of the engines they use, some of it is going on. Cheers RE: Even an old dog can learn - Kenzo - 01-01-2022 Just now noticed this When put "rogue nation 3 forum" to google it dont seem to find this place now, i think just yesterday it did find it. When write same to yandex , first 2 search results are RN So 2021 it worked for me, but from 2022 it dont seem to give RN anymore. Maybe it works normally to others ?
