RE: Mood Music - Ninurta - 01-10-2021

This is where I live. We ain't got nothing else to do around here, so we write songs about the place. I was raised on the Clinch River mentioned here, and still live on a tributary of it - that forms my "moat". You make do with the terrain around ya, you know...

The "Welcome to Virginia" sign is at the top of Fancy Gap, climbing the Blue Ridge out of North Carolina into Virginia.

Unless I miss my guess, that fella fishing is not on Clinch, he's on a tributary named Cedar Creek, at the falls where the trout collect in the pool at the bottom of it right after they stock the creek.

Y'all may or may not have heard of Ralph Stanley. he had a band called The Clinch Mountain Boys. he's the fella that sang "Oh Death" in the movie "O Brother where Art Thou". My Dear Old Dad used to go up to his farm in Dickinson County when they were having singing going on there.

The Carter Fold is on North Fork of Holston River, just at the bottom of Little Moccasin Gap. That's where June Carter, Johnny Cash's wife was raised. They still have music and singing in the barn there on weekends. A pretty musical family - I think Mother Maybelle kicked it off years and years ago.

The deep gorge where she's standing near the wooden rails is Breaks Park, on the border with Kentucky. It's supposed to be the deepest canyon east of the Mississippi River.

The train track is on the Clinchfield Railroad. They built it in the early 1900's to haul the coal out of here. Lot of bodies buried along that railroad in the banks of the tracks. Probably shouldn't have pissed the wrong folks off.

That;s the end of my tour guiding for the day.

@"Ninurta"

I've never been to the USA, though i'd love to one day and see as many states as I can in the process. This song ever since I was a pup has always conjured up beautiful images in my mind, to me it's a perfect song of a seemingly once perfect place, though I know no such thing has ever existed, I still like to daydream a little.

That song is about West Virginia, which in my mind is about as near a perfect place as you'll find left in the US. It hasn't yet been corrupted by the New Yorkers and assorted vagabonds and Liberals pouring into northern Virginia around Washington DC as of the current times, who are poisoning the well of the entire state here.

The next closest to perfect would be southeastern Tennessee, but they need to watch that southern border, because before they know it, infiltraitors will be coming in from Georgia... and, yeah, I meant to spell "infiltraitors" just like I did.
