3,000 years ago, it ruled the Mideast, now blown to pieces - 727Sky - 01-01-2017 Out with the old and in with the new ? Ideology ? Other cultures have burned and destroyed their history books because they felt the important history would begin with them and their new regime ... China and d Pol Pot's Cambodia comes to mind along with vast libraries destroyed by invading dumb*ss hordes... But now we have others who want to destroy everything they believe their skyfairy might find offensive.. I am really sick of these animals and hope they are wiped from the face of the earth to the last fighter. Quote:NIMRUD, Iraq (AP) -- The chilly December wind whipped rain across the strewn wreckage of a city that, nearly 3,000 years ago, ruled almost the entire Middle East. Rivulets of water ran through the dirt, washing away chunks of ancient stone. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/M/ML_ISLAMIC_STATE_ANTIQUITIES_ABRIDGED?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2016-12-31-07-10-59 RE: 3,000 years ago, it ruled the Mideast, now blown to pieces - Grace - 01-01-2017 I find it very sad indeed. I cannot understand the destruction of archeological sites like this, it's human history, it's irreplaceable, and insane to feel like you have to destroy it to protect the feelings of your "god".. next their god will need a safe space and coloring books. RE: 3,000 years ago, it ruled the Mideast, now blown to pieces - senona - 01-03-2017 Okay fine, Saddam went into Kuwait and Daddy Bush got him out of there. Actually, his soldiers hightailed it and ran. So be it. That should have been all we did to Saddam. Had he still be ruling Iraq today, I highly doubt any of this would be going on right now. Quote:Tens of thousands of citizens live in camps. Much of the city of Ramadi is destroyed. More than 70 mass graves have been unearthed in IS territory. Other ancient sites remain under IS control. Such a tragedy. Now this paragraph is a head scratcher for sure.... Quote:But it's unclear where the artifacts seized from them are. Umm, okaaay. That doesn't sound very good. Such a shame to demolish the past as IS has done..... |
