The only people that will make that statement, are those that have not spent anytime around animals.

My Huskies are regular Houdinis when it comes to getting out of their crates. They actually manipulate the locks.

My Rhodesian Ridgebacks used more of this kind of technique. A demolished crate was a common, sight among the recycle in front of my house.

I have one that I’m pretty sure just stays in hers because I ask her to. She can get out anytime she wants. She’s not one to mess around with manipulating latches though, she goes straight to brute strength lol.

I usually crate them when they eat or when I have to be gone for a couple of hours because I worry what they’ll get into while I’m gone. I heard a crash the other day and she came to the living room wearing the door part of the crate. I was like well I guess your finished eating.

My Huskies, love their crates and I have to lock them out of them sometimes. But they are Huskies, so I Have to lock them in when I am away.

It is more a ploy to keep them busy. Because if I don't get back quickly enough, they will be waiting at the door.
