Looking for players and liars.

The GAME:

TWO Truths and ONE Lie are told by the presiding 'Lying Rogue'.
TWO 'Rogue Players' take turns asking a total of THREE questions of the presiding 'Lying Rogue's' three claims.
The 'Lying Rogue' must, in turn, honestly answer each question asked of them.
After each 'Rogue Player' has asked their three questions and had them answered...they then guess which of the 'Lying Rogue's' three initial statements was the lie.
After both 'Rogue Players' have made their choice...the 'Lying Rogue' will reveal the true lie...and a winner will be chosen.

If neither 'Rogue Player' guesses correctly, the 'Lying Rogue' has the option to either preside over a new game or choose a successor for the next game.
If BOTH 'Rogue Players' guess correctly...the 'Lying Rogue' makes one more 'TRUE or FALSE' claim to both 'Rogue Players'.
These TRUE/FALSE tie breakers will continue until only one 'Rogue Player' guesses correctly.
In that case, the 'Rogue Player' who correctly answered will become the next 'Lying Rogue'...fully accredited with all accrued glory and responsibilities for beginning/moderating the next round of 'ROGUE CUP CHALLENGE' .

Let me know who is interested in either lying or guessing...and we'll get things rolling.

I'm ready to bust some lies. Maybe @"FlyingClayDisk" will be up to being the first Lying Rogue. He always has some good stories.

Frankly, I'm not exactly sure how to interpret that statement.

Are you implying my stories are lies?
Okay!  I'll play the liar!  You want my statements (as the Lying Rogue)?  I'll throw them out there, and you-all can decide.

Two truths and one lie, you say???  Heh, heh...this should be fun!

Statements

1. I have a hand autographed (in person) baseball from the 1968 World Series Champion, Detroit Tigers.  Not a replica, hand signed on the spot by all of the starting players.

2. I've played golf with Bob Hope and Jack Nicholas, at the same time, in the same foursome, on the same course.

3. I ate dinner with Earl Morrall, Quarterback for the Miami Dolphins on January 13th, 1973...the night before the Miami Dolphins won the 1973 Super Bowl...the '72 season was also known as "The Perfect Season".

Can I throw in an Extra Credit statement (for 3 truths and 1 lie)?

ETA - Only one of those is a lie.  Or, more correctly; only one of those isn't 100% true.

ETA - Edited to correct the '72/'73 seasonal confusion (and a typo of my own).

Thanks!  I guess I do have a lot of stories!  LOL!  (Most probably boring as heck though!)

I remember everything.  Some kind of a memory condition, I forget the name of it.

Not at all! Just that you have shared many well told stories about life experiences over the years. It would work well for this game.

Okay...looks like we're off to the races...

FCD will be the Lying Rogue.
JINMI and FAUX will question.

FAUX will be first to ask a question about one of FCD's claims.
(Note...others may also ask questions, but FCD can choose to ignore or answer at his own discretion.)

PROCEED!

Peanut Gallery question to FCD on claim #2

What year did you play golf with Hope & Nicklaus?
Just going to throw it out there. Number 3 is the lie.

The Dolphins LOST the Super Bowl in 1972 to the Cowboys.

1973 was the year of the perfect season.

Also, 1972 the Super Bowl was played on January 16th not the 13th.

I rest my case.

ETA, unless of course, that was a typo.

Ahhh, okay, good point.  I must have gotten the date wrong.  It was the night before the Super Bowl, so if it was the 15th, then so be it.  I will stand corrected.  I had it in my head the Super Bowl was on the 14th (for some reason).  It was quite a while ago, after all.  :-)

You don't have to count that as a question if you like, but I will defer to IAMTAT for the final disposition.

Or...you can maintain your posture on the date being wrong and hence it is a lie...your choice.  :-)

ETA - Additional minor correction...the "season" was 1972. Technically, the Super Bowl was played in the calendar year 1973 (not calendar year 1972).

Hint - You guys are getting too fixated on dates! Bottom line (and clarification to remove all doubt).....I had dinner with Earl Morral the night before the Super Bowl following the Miami Dolphins "perfect season". Is that more clear / better?
(04-06-2022, 01:24 PM)IAMTAT Wrote: [ -> ]Peanut Gallery question to FCD on claim #2

Was the winter of 1973/1974.
IAMTAT,

How do you wish to proceed given the clarification above?

As far as I am concerned, the statements still stand.  However, I will defer to you.  If you'd like me to just reveal the answers at this point (because of the date clarifications) I will do so, and you can move on to the next player.

ETA - My apologies for screwing up the dates!  It was a long time ago, and it was late when I typed the original statements.  The dates are relevant, so I do understand some of the lines of questions, hence my apologies.  I should have left the exact dates out of my initial statements to eliminate confusion.

Great questions so far though!

ETA 2 - Question for you, IAMTAT - How do you decide when the game ends?  Is it after the two people you have identified as the primary askers have given their 'final answer', or what?

Each contestant gets 3 questions. After those have been asked / answered they each make a guess as to which they think is the lie. Really there is only 2 people asking questions. Every one else in the thread can ask questions as well but you only have to answer the 2 contestants. It's up to you if you want to answer questions from the "peanut gallery".

ETA, we can use my date statement as my first question if that's OK with yall.

I would just give FAUX another question in place of his last.
BOTH primary questioners will need to ask a total of 3 questions.
AFTER you have answered all 6 of their questions...they both put forward their guess as to which is the lie...and why they believe it to be so.
THEN you reveal the true lie.
