Very cool, I wish I could build my own gear. I guess some tubes might be a bit harder to get now? A few of my guitar gearhead buds are concerned.
Yeah, some are going away, but they are being replaced by others. Technology now is such that there are tubes now with the same pin outs and voltages which will accomplish the same thing, just a different manufacturer. I'd be really surprised if tubes for Marshall will ever be unavailable, there's way too much demand. Now, some other obscure off-brand stuff from long ago might not be able to get tubes, but again, it's a demand issue.

It's less about saving money than knowing where the cloth comes from, how it was treated (no poisons) and that no children had to work for it. But I don't judge others about it, not everyone has the time for it and good cloth is almost as expensive as the finished product in store.
There's a lot of love going into it though, and just like with cooking, it can be felt, IMHO.

Well, just for writing experience (not too collectable really) check out some of the Japanese Pilots. People know Pilot in the US, but in Japan they have WAY more models. They've got a "Juice" model which goes down to about 0.3mm. Another Pilot model is the G-TEC-Cx line. I've got some of those Japanese gels, even ones down to 0.1mm, if you can believe that!! And they write SMMOOOOOOOoooooooth!! too! People think of gel pens like the ones they get at the grocery store, and if they ever tried some of these gel pens out of Japan they'd never use another pen.
Check out Jetpens.com. They're a Japanese importer out of CA. They've got an incredible selection. I order way too much stuff from them (....every month!!!) Amazon (JP) also has a lot of variety too, but it's just like dealing with regular Amazon where you really have to check prices. They do honor your Prime though, at least last time I checked. Sometimes you have to have a minimum order though to get the free shipping. I never seem to have the problem of being below the minimum order...just ask my wife! LOL! She doesn't even bother asking what's in the packages anymore, just hollers out "Some more pencils showed up for you!"
And then there's the wooden pencil thing. I've actually collected wood pencils for many many years though. Back about 4 years ago I stopped, but now I've resumed again with a focus on Europe, India and Asia. Otherwise, I have about every pencil made in North America back to about the 50's and the same for Japan.
This makes four of us now! Cool!

Im retired, but am now a fine arts major back at college. I took a ceramics class and loved it but was terrible on the wheel. The day I bought my own pottery wheel was the first day of the lockdown for the plandemic. No brag, but Im proud to say I now sell my work as a studio potter in a busy gallery. I hope to get back to school next fall. Here is a little chocolate, blueberry creme teapot, for a sample.

Awesome!
I just looked up Jetpens.com, very cool selection. Thanks! I don't think I've ever used an 0.1mm before, that is outtasight!! I have a Pentel EnerGel which writes pretty good.
Here is a shot of my collection. The red box pencils go back to about 1953-1956. Census pencils. Note the 2 2/4!!! The Associated Commercial Pencils work well, I have a few boxes of them, they date around the 80s or early 90s. I use a 1980s Boston sharpener for my pencils. The almond colored one with the wood veneer trim.
From top to bottom: Parker Flighter CT ('70s), two Zebra F-701s, Cross "Century" mech pencil, the famous McDonnell Douglas Truck Services mech pencil, another similar model, and my trusty Kerry. I have about 150 pens/mechanical pencils in total but these are some of my favorites.
This is my "baby" (Parker CT)
You can hardly see it, but it is one of the Made in USA models.

Yep. Tube production has been and will continue to be a problem. More so now due to Russia's response to the sanctions.
Rhett Schull posted a vid about tube production recently. Guitars, and music in general, is a hobby of mine too. I went nuts last year and picked up an AxeFX III and I really don't think about amps any more. The AFX overkill for me, but I hope to put it to good use very soon. I'm trying find (and balance) time to work on two new musical projects.

I have a drawer in one of my tool boxes I toss old ...ahem... classic pencils when they get too well used. The patina on them is amazing. They all have provenance and documentation.
With the down turn in the economy, I imagine investing in these amazing bits of history is a wise move. No cost is too great to the savvy investor.
I take cashiers checks and Bitcoin. Maybe ammo, depending on the caliber.

Yep, I'm and old lady, with her own lego room. I'm not anywhere near as good as the people on Lego Masters, but I like to build the big sets, geared more towards adults. And I like to free build too, like campgrounds full of campers, although one fellow did get attacked by a bear. (Also love horror movies, so sometimes that comes out!)
