"Love of his state" my ass. His resignation was a political move. if he gets impeached, as was looking increasingly likely, he would be unable to hold office again. if he resigns, he can run again after the dust settles, the smoke clears, and the news cycle has moved on and stopped reminding folks of what he did.

In other news, I hard in the wind that Liz Cheney's district removed her from office. I don't know if that is true or not, as I have not independently confirmed it.
