Thanks for all the welcomes! My eyes are having a hard time adjusting to  this format so please don't think me rude for not replying individually. New glasses should be arriving any day now so hopefully they solve the issue.

Try using a different colour theme? There's a button down at the very bottom right of the page with a dropdown arrow and a GO button. I like the Dark 1.8 theme myself. Or if you're on a PC... try holding in the Ctrl key whilst pressing the + sign... that'll zoom in and make the text look bigger until your new glasses arrive!
