New California
#1
RedPill78 had a guest on his show last night (for the second time) who is working hard to break part of California off from the current state in order to form a new one. Things seem to be looking good. Let's hope he succeeds, and then the far Left can have what remains to wallow in the travesty of Socialism they want so much.

‘New California’ Could Become the Next West Virginia
Quote:Secession was banned for all time when the Northern states defeated the Southern Confederacy in the Civil War, right? Well, no, it wasn’t.

In fact, University of Tennessee law professor Glenn Harlan Reynolds sees the following scenario as a possibility not out of the question in the near future:
“In the summer of 2021, following the California financial crisis and CalPers pension collapse, public employee-supporting Democrats from the California General Assembly absented themselves from the state, preventing a quorum so that legislation slashing pension payouts could not be passed.
“That absence stretched from days into weeks, as the state government largely shut down for lack of funding. Seizing on this moment, 34 counties from the eastern and rural parts of what was then California organized themselves and sent representatives to Fresno, where those representatives declared themselves the new, official California General Assembly and designated individuals of their choice as the new, official governor and attorney general.
“The new legislature and officials were quickly recognized by President Donald Trump, who, citing his authority under the Insurrection Act and Article IV section 4 of the United States Constitution, deemed them the official government of the state, and sent federal troops from the 101st Airborne Division to Fresno to ensure that what he called ‘leftovers’ of the ‘old, failed state government’ were unable to ’cause trouble.’ President Trump’s recognition was echoed in a joint resolution of the Republican-controlled Congress, which perhaps anticipated the addition of two new Republican senators.”

Far-fetched? Fanciful? Not at all, Reynolds argues in “Splitsylvania: State Secession and What To do About It,” available in abstract form and downloadable at SSRN.

In addition to being a law professor, Reynolds is the founder and long-time proprietor of Instapundit.com, one of the first political blogs to achieve and maintain national influence from the early days of blogging.
“Intrastate secession isn’t exactly new in the United States: West Virginia was once part of Virginia, for example, and Tennessee was once part of North Carolina, though that evolution was less fraught,” Reynolds writes.

“But in recent years, we’ve seen a number of states facing calls to split, from inhabitants of regions who feel effectively unrepresented. In New York State, for example, there have been repeated calls to split upstate New York from the New York City region. One such proposal involves letting the NYC area keep the name “New York,” while the new upstate state would be named “New Amsterdam.”
Tim Draper had a plan to split CA into six states, allowing Silicon Valley it's own preserve.
Reynolds points to a second, more moderate effort to split California into two states by sundering the coastal areas into one jurisdiction and the rest of the state into the other, with the latter to be known as "New California."

As of now, there are 35 counties who wish to take part in becoming the 51st state of the Union.

Quote:Ventura County has become the 35th county to join the New California State movement to become the 51st state of the Union. Following the Orange county Town Hall for New California in Tustin, CA on February 24, 2018 representatives from Ventura county came forward and agreed to take a county chairmanship.  Ventura will be recommended for certification at the next New California State meeting.  Following certification Ventura will become the 35th county to join the New California State movement.

@"guohua", judging from the current map, it looks like things are moving along nicely. The yellow portions are all that's left of the state that doesn't want out.
If we learned anything the past four years, it's that the government works slow. TOO SLOW!

The problem is they have been talking about this for years my husband said.
Another problem is,
Quote:Splitting up California: State Supreme Court takes initiative off ballot
Yup that is true, they'll never allow this to happen.

Quote:The state Supreme Court decided Wednesday that California will remain intact geographically, at least for now, while it decides whether the voters can consider a proposal to divide the Golden State into three new states.

The three-state initiative, Proposition 9, had gathered enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot. Nine days after opponents filed suit, the court issued a unanimous order removing the measure from the ballot and ordering further legal arguments on whether it should be placed on another ballot in 2020 or struck down altogether.

The court said it usually allows ballot measures to go to the voters before considering constitutional challenges. But in this case, the six justices said, “significant questions regarding the proposition’s validity” and the “potential harm” of allowing a public vote before those questions are resolved “outweighs the potential harm in delaying the proposition to a future election.”

No hard feelings. We are all entitled to like or dislike whomever we please.

I found your comment about his asthmatic dog to be funny.   tinylaughing

If I make a pizza, I can call it a donut, I can say it is dessert, and I can cut it in four peices or sixteen peices.  The fact will remain, that it is still that single pizza.

You can feel anyway you choose. You can believe what you like. You can't do as you please without consequences, and you will never get 100 percent agreement from every resident because you don't like how the State or country is working.

Like Mrs. G said. It is nothing but talk. And they are free to talk, even if what they say holds little to no truth, and will never happen.

Even if you own a home, you are restricted with what you bring into the home, restricted on how you use the home, and restricted on how you reconstruct it.

As a country, our safety depends on the unity of the contiguous United States. While people can say any crazy thing they want to say, the United States will remain united, until overthrown by another power.

Just because you get pissed off with your brother, and scream from the highest mountain top that you hate him, and he is not your brother any more.  The truth is, he is still your brother.

Time for folks to stop acting like two year siblings. Time to face the truth, and work together to fixed this damn mess we have made in this country.

For every one person that read this post. About 7.99 billion have not.

Yet I still post.  tinyinlove

Subdividing a state is not the same thing as sundering the Union. Some times, it is the only way to preserve a union. For a few years during the Civil War, Virginia had two duelling governments - one in Richmond, and another in Wheeling. Washington DC recognized the Wheeling government as the legitimate one and annexed it to the USA, and Richmond, which was at the time in another nation (CSA), contested that, and the new state of West Virginia was born in 1863.

The Virginians in West Virginia territory looked upon the Wheeling government as an "occupation government", and acted accordingly. There was a lot of blood spilled in that state between brothers before it was settled. It wasn't a spat between two year old siblings throwing toys at one another. Them boys threw lead.

Has anyone ever wondered why there are two Dakotas? Two Carolinas?

Splitting states off from previous states is not unheard of, nor did it damage the Union in any way,

Last spring, when the Richmond legislature was running roughshod over Virginians' Constitutional Rights, both State and Federal Constitutional Rights, West Virginia quietly passed a law allowing for Virginia counties to renounce Richmond and join to West Virginia, to preserve the rights of that county's citizenry. That's not just talk, they actually DID it, passed that law, because it was within their legal powers to do so. It had precedent, and had legal standing.

Personally, I'd love to see CA and NY split into "Sane CA and NY" and "The rest of what was". It would give Conservative types more recognition and more say in how the Marxist factions destroyed the nation. It could even prevent that, which at present is a foregone conclusion. I'd love to see all of VA west of the Blue Ridge leave VA and join WV. The culture is far closer than the Richmond/ Northern VA culture, and we would get more equitable representation in state government. It wouldn't do much in the national government unless a buttload of VA counties elected to join WV. Even then, there would be no change in the Senate, since Senate seats are apportioned two to a state and no new state is created there, but it might change the balance of the House of Representatives a mite, making it more equitable and wresting control of our representation from the clutches of Richmond and Northern VA. Right now, our voices have been muted, drowned out by rants and screams from Richmond and Northern Virginia. What we say matters nary a whit in how the state is driven into the ground by the Marxists.

At present, those two small localizations - Richmond and Northern VA, and to a lesser extent the Charlotteville area - are holding the entire rest of the state hostage for Soros and Bloomberg. That's not a reach, it's fact. Bloomberg bought himself a Marxist legislature in the last election, and Soros has been quietly purchasing DA's in Northern Virginia ever since, evidently with an aim to make the area into East Los Angeles or East Seattle or East Portland.

At least by joining WV, our voices might get heard somewhere when we vote, instead of universally ignored.

If CA split out like that, it would counterbalance the Marxist plans to make a state of Puerto Rico, and keep us on a more even keel. I'm all for that. I don't believe they can actually grant DC statehood as they have been muttering about, not legally anyhow. DC is a Federal District specifically to keep one state from "owning" the entire Federal Government. making a state of that mere city would create a crisis of epic proportions, with a single state lording it over an entire nation. How would y'all like to see that happen? We got a taste of it here in VA, with just Northern VA and Richmond lording it over the entire rest of the state, and I can tell you it's a bitter pill to swallow.

Let's do this. New York, VA/WV, and California get your shit together and in one box! Texas - I'm looking at you here, too. It might be time to exercise that option to subdivide into separate states that you reserved at your inclusion into the US...

The only downside I can see for Sane California is that the "rest of what was" is precisely the area the CCP has been eyeballing as locations for military bases in the US, which would place the Sane Californians smack dab on the front lines of the next World War that is coming, trapped between Communists and a really big mountain range. They would go down in history as where the line was drawn between Freedom and Slavery, and that often involves a lot of bloodshed.

Slavers, as a rule, don't give up slaving, and they don't die quietly.

.
Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’

Maybe California hasn't fully adorned itself with a new garb when it comes to reality.
I'll guess the tragedy is also convenient for another threat of taking away the public's
guns.

'Officials have identified the gunman in a shooting inside an office building
in southern California that left four people dead, including a nine-year-old boy.
The child died while being embraced by another victim, police said.

The Wednesday attack in Orange, 30 miles south of Los Angeles, ended when
officers shot and wounded the suspect. Police said he had "a business and
personal relationship" with his victims, but did not confirm a motive.

The suspect, Aminadab Gaxiola Gonzalez, 44, is in hospital and there is no
current threat to the public, they said. According to police, a fifth victim is also
in hospital. None of the victims will be identified until next of kin have been
informed.

Police were called to the scene by multiple reports of shots fired inside the
courtyard of the two-storey building on Lincoln Avenue.

At a news conference Thursday, officials said they had to use bolt cutters to enter
the premises because the doors were locked. Orange Police spokeswoman
Lt Jennifer Amat described the city as "very safe" and "usually quiet".

Wednesday's shooting is the deadliest in Orange since 1997, Ms Amat said.
California governor Gavin Newsom called the shooting "horrifying and heart
-breaking".

"Our hearts are with the families impacted by this terrible tragedy tonight,"
he said on Twitter. The attack is the third mass shooting in the US in just over
two weeks.

Eight people were killed inside spas in Atlanta, Georgia, on 16 March. Ten people
were shot dead in a Boulder, Colorado, grocery store on 22 March.
President Joe Biden has vowed to take "common-sense steps" to crackdown on
firearms, renewing his call to ban assault weapons and urging Congress to pass
bills that would end loopholes in background checks...'
