I've turned down the job twice.
TWICE.
I didn't want any more responsibility.
I have 4 hospitals that I oversee for Clinical Engineering in the Pacific Northwest.
I was happy with that.
Really.
Two in the Hawiian Islands, and two in Oregon.
They had offered me a fifth hospital in Oregon a major one in Portland and I kept turning it down.
Until tonight.
I basically was directed to take the promotion and the responsibility.
Working more means screwing off less.
This was supposed to be my retirement job, not one where I have to work more.
(I know)
Some will say this is a pity party and I'm bragging.
Trust me, it's a rant.
I'm getting too old for this shit!

It's difficult, hence the whine thread.
On one hand, it is flattering to be "needed".
On the other hand it's a giant pain in the ass because of the toxic personalities involved. Engineering problems I have no problem handling. Problem? Solution.
Done.
But this is dealing with more personnel and personalities. And that's out of my comfort zone.
Is it still legal to give recalcitrant employees a sound thrashing with a bamboo cane?
I haven't seen the latest HR memo.

I don't blame you. I hate more responsibility .
I personally like working on equipment and helping others. I hate having to deal with a bunch of grown men that act like bunch little school girls.
I guess just deal with it as best as you can, there is a reason they wanted to add more on you.
